Charge Time
The other reason it takes longer to charge via PC/USB is that interfacing to a USB host takes power and CPU cycles which would not be necessary if you're just connected to a charger.
My droid does charge on the PC. the PC provides more current than the car charger I got for me Dare (on which) the Droid refuses to charge.
Interestingly, when connected to the car charger, the droid recognizes that it is plugged in, and it stops discharging, but it does not charge, never reports "charging", etc.
Of course, I didn't know it was supposed to say charging at the time; I first did this the day I bought the Droid. Now I know better 🙂
You don't need a driver just for charging, although it pops up a reminder box unless you tell it to stop asking. Motorola DOES make a driver which should at least stop the dialog. There's also a driver in the SDK from google, but that's a lot of work i...
