Voyager with Bitpim?

Just got mine from FedEx. I was surprised to receive a data/USB cable standard with the phone. Had already ordered a data cable, now I have two lol. If that's ok by Verizon now, then how about bluetooth connectivity with our PCs?

So I would like to load in my backed up contacts from Bitpim. But this phone isn't supported yet. I have 1.0.2 and I tried vx9800 and vx9900. Anyone have a solution?

it probably will not be available for a while. the folks over at bitpim actually need to get a hold of this phone themselves to be able to figure out a way to get into it. so until then i'd just use bluetooth to send the contacts to your computer. the other option would be to back it up with verizon's getitnow program. it is free if you have a online account with verizon to pay bills.

hope that helps.

Yea I just discovered that apparently I can actually use bluetooth which is a nice surprise. But my old phone is deactivated so I'm not sure how to use getitnow to backup...

As for bluetooth, there seems no way to get my contacts to Outlook and that's the only way my bluetooth on my PC seems to work...

If you have a Verizon Wireless account you can log in and reactivate your old phone (which will disable the new one) use get it now to get the backup assistant then swap them back again. While this might be a little involve it is somewhat quick to do and a whole lot quicker than keying in a few hundred contacts.

Keep in mind that this will only restore contacts and nothing else (like text messages).

The good news is that once you get this set up it will be there for you to use when needed. When you get a new phone just run backup assistant again and restore the contacts it takes less than a minute.

I might end up doing that. But right now I was able to import by sending vcard from my old phone to the PC via bluetooth. Ten at a time. I have about 80 contacts. Now I can drag and drop all of them into Outlook, but I have to save them all one by one (just keep mouse clicking will do it). But then I have to send them to the new phone one at a time. Really stupid.

Actually I'm not sure how I can reactivate my new phone, I don't have the original order number and location ID...

after you activated the new by calling the 1st time all you need to do is reprogramm the phone by dialing *228 then option 1.
the call you made the first time was to accept the 2 year contract. phone activation is different. Change the serial number back to the new phone then dial the code. any questions?????

OK Sorry for the multiple posts, but I figured it out in case anyone has the same issue.

I imported as described from my original phone bluetooth, 10 at a time. Then dragged and dropped all the vcf (vcard files) into Outlook (which I never use until now). Use Alt-S to save and close and then mouse click (set to automatically go to dialog box) I was able quickly save all the contacts. Selecting Phone list from Contacts in Outlook and then selecting all I then choose File>Send to Bluetooth>VX10000 to send all the contacts. Done!

Not exactly elegant, and unfortunately I jumped the gun on the backup assistant ($1.99 is nothing but still), but I have my contacts.

Hmm. Just take your old phone and new phone into a verizon store and have them transfer the contact info from the old phone to the new phone. They can do that.
