Samsung SYNC SGH-A707

I would like to try this with a few people to see if this works. I come across a lot of phones from warranty that have reception issues, and the Samsung Sync takes the cake by far.. So I would like to know if I could get a few volunteers to try this out on their phones to see if we can get better service using permanent 2G service instead of 3G.

If you are interested try these few steps out and please post the results back here.

This is how you can change from 3G to 2G:

Press 277634#*#

Then go through the menu:

5. Modem Setting
2. Network Mode
1. Network Mode
2. 2G only
Then, after you have done that, if you are having problems with the earpiece volume also, hit your back button and go to:

7. GSM Speech Ver
Select ...

OK heres the problem the ear speaker is really quit. Not broken just VERY quit. I have the volume to 7 and can barely hear it. Is there a way to clean it as just the end had BBQ sauce on it? Any suggestions rubbing alcohol swabs? anything?

I just received this phone a few days ago, it has worked fine up until today. The phone reported it had 2/3 battery charge left in the morning, and then later in the day when I went to make a call the phone would only display its model number before turning off.

I'm not sure if the battery's charge was being misreported, or if there is a real battery or phone malfunction. If anyone has had this problem, any insight into the issue would be appreciated. Thank you.

I recently learned that AT&T apparently has disabled the ability to install programs on the phone unless you download them via their media net service.

Assuming this is true (and it seems to be), is it possible to download/install directly to a memory card, or is it at least possible to install to the phone and then move the programs over to the card?

Also, I doubt it's possible but is there any way to customize the menu icons in the main menu? Four of the nine are links to AT&T stuff I won't use, and I have to dig several levels down in the 'my stuff' folder to get to programs I use frequently. I would love to get a link to the applications & games folder in the main menu.

i have had this phone for awhile and its alright...i just cannot figure out a few things about it.
1. how do i turn the whole phone onto silent
2. how do i change the text message tone and turn just the text message onto silent

Has anyone tried to use a ring tone that you have downloaded as your tone for your alarm?

I can move the file into the correct location, However, when I go to select the tone it is not in there to select.

Anyone have an answer?

I am trying to sync my outlook calendar, the problem is my meetings are showing up one hour later then they really should be. So if i have a 10am meeting, the reminder on my phone, will go off at 11am.

My phone is set to the Central time zone, my outlook is set to central.

The clock on my phone matches the clock on my computer. Please help me sync my outlook calendar to my phone, so that the times will match up. I am sure that there is just something simple that I'm not doing.

I had created 10 groups in my address book, and everything was fine. However, I just tried to create a new 11th group, and there is something wrong:

1) I cannot access Option 6 (Group Settings) when I click on this newly created group. I can access this for other groups.

2)When I select "Add Member" after I highlight this group, the phone will not allow me to pull up the address book to check off names that I want to categorize for this group. It defaults to "Blank".

3) The icon for the newly created group looks different than the default icon associated with the other groups - there is an additional yellow square besides the blue and pink square faces. I have no idea why it looks different.

Is it possible? Is there a a hack available to do it? I'd at least like to keep the web browser open if when I close the flip.

Can anyone tell me if you can use the voice recorder to record something and then use what you recorded as a ring tone?

When I try to set it as my caller ring tone the message I get is :
to use this function, first save or copy contacts to phone.

My contact list is on the phone.

Any idea what the message means ?

Is it possible to remove the black "Cingular" on the bottom of the screen? The phone already has the cingular logo on the face, I think my wallpapers would look much better if it didn't have it on the screen as well.

is it possible to switch to 2g on the sync???

Hi, the T9 input method on my phone is off. My friend used it thinking it was in abc and now when I type something in T9 it comes up with what he accidentally typed in abc for example....You comes out to be Wmt... is there a way to reset the T9 function or the memory for it????

There are many features I love about my Sync (screen quality, web browsing, etc.). However, I am noticing that I am missing a great deal of calls that go directly to voice mail, even in an area with great reception. Does anyone else have this problem?

My old phone, a Sony Ericcson, had a color screen where the display would blank out after 8 seconds (to save power), but you could set it so that a black-and-white image of the current time was always on. Can this be done on the Sync, so that if you look at the closed phone, you could always see the time on the external display? I can't figure out if it is possible or not, but hopefully someone here can tell me. Thanks, everyone.

Using this code (*#0002*28346#), access the secret volume controls.

Now the Sync volume can be adjusted to be louder than LG-CU500 on earpiece, speakerphone and playing MP3 on speaker. The adjustments on bluetooth earpiece has no effect. However, a wired earpiece can be adjusted to be louder.

Can I hear you now? Yes, loud and clear.

So far I really like this phone but ...does anyone know if the service numbers (directory assistance, pay your bill, check your minutes, etc.) in the address book can be deleted? Also if there's a way to turn off the expanded info when you scroll down the address book listing in the menu. I just want to see the list as is without the extra info.
