Nokia Announces 3100 For Americas
Nokia yesterday announced a new version of its recently-announced 3100 entry-level model. The new version is designed specifically for the Americas, with GSM 850/1800/1900 bands and new opaque faceplates. The new 3100 is otherwise identical to the European version, bringing the high-end features of Nokia's Series 40 platform to the affordable 3000 series. Key features include a color display, Series 40 interface, Java 2.0, optional light-up faceplates, and polyphonic ringtones.

Nokia Launches New Phones, Accessories
Nokia today launched two new phones, both with color displays and photo features, plus two new accessories:
- 6600: Tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900), updated Series 60 smartphone OS (based on Symbian OS 7.0s), integrated video camera, large 65,536 color display, GPRS, Bluetooth, email over SSL and mobile VPN, Java MIDP 2.0, 6MB internal memory plus 32MB MMC card included. Available 4th Quarter 2003.
- 3100: Tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900), color display, MMS, Java, xHTML browser, and faceplates that light up in sync with ringtones and games. Special gaming faceplates available (shown). Available 3rd Quarter 2003.
- Nokia Fun Camera: A stand-alone VGA camera with its own viewfinder, flash and power supply. 8 MB of built-in memory. Connects to Nokia Pop-port phones, including the 3100 announced today.
- Nokia Radio Headset: Stereo FM radio with display and headset. Connects to Nokia Pop-port phones.
