6255 & 6235

I have a 6255 and my customer has a 6235. My customer wants to record a voice recording on his phone and have it be his ring tone. When I set it up to do that, we get an invalid tone message. Can it be done, or has USCC messed up my phone again! Just wondering.

I guess either nobody knows or it can't be done!

First of all, I don't see the 6235 even listed on there - is it similar to the 6255? Does either phone even have a voice recording app? It may be that the built in voice recording app produces a recording format that isn't compatible with the phone. I've checked a few Nokias around here - my 6682 can do it (my "outdoor" setting has a recording of my daughter screaming as the ringtone), the 6102 cannot. I'd imagine the 6255 is closer to the 6102 in terms of features, but I don't know for sure. If the phone will allow this, you could do the recording on a computer, then either sync via USB or Bluetooth, or send an email to the phone.

Not much help, but it's better than all those other morons who responded . . 😉

I've seen it in phonescoop before, 6235-6236 kinda thing. I've tried to record my son and then turn it into a ringtone, but then it says incopatable style when I try to assign it. I'm going to see if it works on my 6255 if I do it as a group ringtone, I know that the 55 has an issue with downloaded ringtones for individuals. Thanks for the response, you are a superstar in my book!

USCC&Verizon(w/6256i)have told Nokia to activate the DRM software on their versions of these phones. What this means is that you can only use tones bought from them as ringtones. You can't even use your own voice recordings.Alltel,Metro PCS,and others do not have the DRM turned on and you can use your own music or voice tracks as ringtones.Go to the Nokia phone model sub-forum and you can find out how to get around the DRM restriction.

Who's Diego? I haven't called Nokia yet. Is there another way to fix it without calling them?

DIEGO is a "What" not a "Who". 😁 It's Nokia's CDMA Programer's Tool. It's not supposed to be available to the general public. 👀 With DIEGO you can change the factory settings on your Nokia CDMA phone. In your case you need to change the "ringtone" setting to "allow all file types" to erase the DRM restriction.Go to the Nokia 6255/56i Forum on Phonescoop or go to HowardForums.com and read the Nokia Sub-Forum within the Verizon Wireless Forum. You will find out all about DIEGO and where to acquire it.It's easy to use but tricky to find and install. But check out the websites I listed they will help ALOT.Good Luck 😎
