LG VX3300 VX4650/4700 VX6100 Pros & Cons

PriorityX

Hi from Vermont,

I need to buy 50 tri-band phones without PTT, and 5 with PTT. My number one priority is reception (analog & digital), followed by reliability.

Found quite a bit of info about the above phones, not all of it good. In particular the VX3300 and VX6100 seem to have relatively poor reception. On the other hand, the VX4650/4700 seems to be a great phone.

As you can imagine, with this kind of a financial commitment, I don't want to make a bad decision. I am limited to the current Verizon offerings and a price range of $50 or less. Bar vs clamshell is not important.

The 50 phones without PTT will be used in vehicles with car kits.

The 5 phones with PTT will have light duty use by office staff.

I've been doing alot of reseach because I need to get new phones for my husband and myself. We also need Tri-Mode and reception and battery life are top priorty. I've narrowed it down to the 4650 and the Motorola v710. The 4650 has great reviews and the best speaker phone. It can also be used as a speaker phone with the phone closed, the Motorola cannot. Depends on what kind of a deal I can get. We really don't need the camara on the Motorola.

I am an indirect agent with Verizon and have dealt with most of the phones you are looking at. Cradles for phones are tough to get. Motorola V710 is the easiest and most reliable for car installations. But out of your price range. The 3300 has been a good phone along with the 6100. I have not had to deal with the 4650 yet (owner has not brought them in). We have had no trouble with the 3300 or 6100 as far as signal strength goes. Our 6100 price is out of your price range as well. As far as the PTT phones go, I have only sold the T300. It works really well according to the customer. Very durable phone. Hope this helps you out. Good Luck!

i have the vx4650 and it's a very good phone. good reception and the speakerphone is great. only problem is the way to turn on the speakerphone. lg put it on the outside of the phone vs. as a softkey. bad idea. i always inadvertantly hit it and throw my phone into speakerphone when i don't want to. other than that, been very happy with it.
