tethering blackjack II to laptop as a modem

MY LAPTOP IS NOT RECOGNIZING MY BLACKJACK AS A MODEM. IT RECOGNIZES THE MASS STORAGE DEVICE AND ACTIVE SYNC I WOULD APPRCIATE ANY IDEAS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. ATT HAS NOT BEEN ANY HELP AT ALL

you have to change the USB connection type on the phone:
go into start menu and select settings; then scroll through settings menu and select connections; then in conncections menu, select USB; and the change the connection type to modem and hit ok
