Having reception issues!!!

Hey folks, I have just bought a brand new droid phone from Virgin mobile. And it doesnt work at my house! I need to fix this problem. Big time. Any ideas? I tried using a Sprint cell booster, since I figured that virgin used the same network. But no luck, ideas?

Capacitive styluses.

I know there are limitations in their design based on how capacitive screens work, but all the ones I've seen have a large, bulbous tip. I'm guessing this is to ensure enough contact is made to register, but are there any other designs that would be more precise? I find that when using the larger tips like you usually see it ends up covering up what you're using in drawing applications, making it only marginally more useful than just using your finger in the first place.

NFC/S Beam

Would having NFC turned on at all times cause a drain on battery life, or only when using NFC features?

HTC One X Rooting Question

So, I've been weighing the pros and cons of rooting my HTC One X. I'm tired of all the bloatware draining my battery and hogging up a decent chunck of my memory. Is there any one site that has the root software that is better than another? Also, what is your opinion or personal experience at rooting your Android?

Note: I'm not stupid and I'm not looking for a lecture on why I shouldn't do it. It's gonna happen either way, I'm just looking for advice and opinions.

Jelly Bean

I put cm10 on my note and it's pretty neat. A lot more integration as well as easier to navigate settings. Anyone else running it?

Data usage monitors

Anybody have any experience with any data usage monitoring apps? I'm often dealing with customer either lying or just ignorant to what is/isn't using data. I have heard there are apps that will break down which specific apps have used how much data. I am going to try some out so I know what I can recommend to customers so they can see exactly where the data is going, and wondered if there was anything anybody on here would recommend.

SMS App Recommendations

Hello,

I just got a new Android device (TMobile, Samsung Galaxy S II) and have been researching SMS apps but cannot really tell them apart. Any recommendations for a good SMS app?

Also, for the tech wizards here, how does one override text messaging going through one's carrier vs. an SMS app? Thus far I have looked at Go SMS Pro and IM+. I am aware of KikMessenger but something about it doesn't sit right with me but maybe I should reconsider since it is so popular.

Rooting my Mytouch 4g

Yeah horrible phone, I know......

I'm having issues with battery life as a of late, it is not as a result of my usage, usage has actually decreased. Purchased a new battery for it already, and I have wanted to root it for a while anyway.....

Any suggestions on a good rom to use?

I already know how to do it, but just wanting to know how I should set it up..... I'm assuming that there is no Rom for ICS for this phone as of yet or that there willl ever be.

Carrier IQ - What can I do?

Hello,

So I recall there being a brouhaha in the tech world earlier this year about Carrier IQ but in all the articles, blog posts, etc. I do not recall what the final word was on the issue and what, if anything, device owners can do.

I just got a new smartphone and downloaded an app which detected Carrier IQ was on my phone. What can I do about this and should I worry about it?
