Wireless Data

I know the question of how to use your phone as a modem for your PDA has come up several times, but I still can't make it happen. Between searching the internet or talking to Cingular or Dell, I've spent hours upon hours and still can't come up with a solution. Everyone says it should work, but nobody knows how. Dell says the PDA is fine, its Cingular. And Cingular Data support says its a voice issue (because it involves dialing a phone number) and Cingular Voice says its a data issue (because it does involve data transfer). I couldn't even get a clear answer on whether or not I would be charged by air time minutes or by data volume.
