What the h*** are people thinking?

Woman walks in, has a $50 DVD player. It doesn't read DVD's; just sits at the loading screen for 5 minutes and then says, "No Disc".

So, I ask, where's the recipt?

"A friend purchased it for me, a while ago when it was on sale. She just gave it to me for Christmas (today is Feb 18th, right?) and it doesn't work."

So, I ask, where's the box?

"Uh, I don't have it."

I then ask, what would you like me to do?

"I would like in-store credit."

So, let's look at the proposed transaction: She has a DVD player, which she has no proof of purchase, which she could find at almost ANY retailer, that could have been purchased up to three years ago, which has a 90 day warranty, that she would like...

She probably "lost" it because she's hoping you'll give in just to make her go away. Another tactic used to get something for nothing... friggin' crooks.
