Highest text usage you've ever seen?

lecherousjester

Dec 10, 2007, 9:05 AM
I just saw a teenage girl come in the other day who had used over 27,000 text messages last month, combined with almost 3100 minutes as well. I'm trying to find out the logistics of how this could even work, especially because her phone doesn't even have a QWERTY keypad.

I'm sure you guys have seen more though, so share your records!

27,000?! ๐Ÿ˜ณ
My highest was only about 1,000. A laughable amount compared to yours.

The most text I have seen was just shy of 10,000. The mother didn't have a package on the account. Her bill was $1,900. Needless to say her daughter probably lost her thumbs. But, 27,000 texts in one month is alot of text.

If you do the math, if she was awake 16 hours a day, that is a possible 960 minutes. Multiply that by a 30 day month, that is 28,800 minutes.

That would mean that every single minute that she is awake, she has sent or received roughly one text message. On top of using 3100 minutes. To sum everything up, she has NO life. IMO.

If you figure 30 days in a month, and 16 waking hours in a day, that's nearly a message a minute for 16 hours a day. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

She must not be very bright though. She would have to do alot of that texting during school. I'm sure she's not studying very much.

Very possible, but also consider my personal usage averages 45k, but it's not all text. One, if she's using IM that will run up really fast. And for me I have my email forwarded to my phone via text message so that's average eight pages per email.

More than likely she's using IM. The funny thing though is, the person she's IM'ng probably sits 2 seats behind her in class. Typical high school girl shenannigans.

Eh, I did the same thing in high school. I had it worked out so nearly everyone in the class would be in an AIM chatroom during tests or quizzes. It worked beautifully.

...
BigShowJB

because the kids aren't applying themselves to meet the standard and the system as it is teaches to the minimum requirements, instead of pushing to get the maximum effort out of the kids
...
Hombre07

Dec 11, 2007, 11:16 AM
Are you aware of what the minimum requirements are? Schools would need to be a) meeting on Saturdays b) going longer each day and c) going year around in order to meet all requirements as set, as it is teachers aren't able to meet all requirements in the time allotted no matter how apt the student is to learning. Take in account for slower students or those students who don't test well and it makes our education system look like a joke. Or consider those students who either work or take part in sports (all of them) and think about what else they have to do and due to the high standards they simply get overstressed and no longer want to do any of it.

well, i disagree, on the account that I have four good friends that are Public school teachers and they all say they can get their students to do better if they would simply stop texting and doing other sh!t..oops stuf and get to work. there is a reason they are called Student-athletes and student workers... the student part should be first.

The most I have ever seen was 25000 text. A customer I acted got the phone for his son. He wanted to do IM. At the time we didn't have unlimited txt so I told him if he got the 5.99 t-zones he could log in there and use it unlimited. I made sure to tell them not to log into the IM app on the phone because that was different. Of course they didn't listen and just for his sons txts was over $1000.00.

...
BigShowJB

Dec 11, 2007, 12:23 PM
definitely possible, especially if she is sending and receiving to multiple others at the same time and each recipient/sender counts as a separate message. So if she is sending messages to 10 other people at the same time as most phones allow, (some allow more) that makes it a lot easier to reach 27000 messages.

Still a ridiculous lack of/waste of time, energy and a life though. and that's not IMO, that's fact.

Well, if that girl had unlimited text messaging then she's really got a lot of bang for her buck. If not, I think the guy in Canada who racked up an 80K phone bill will be a perfect husband for her.
