okay maybe not... image attachments would suck up so much bandwidth - not to mention fill the forums with crap. I don't think having image attachments would improve the quality of the posts as much as it would give people another way of heckling each other.
However I wish I could put a big "thumbs up" signature at the bottom of my posts :-)

Not to mention, we do have the capability of posting links. As long as you can post an image link, the image isn't needed. As for the Thumbs Up, I agree. There should be a Thumbs Up emoticon. No face, just fist and thumb.

they could do it the same way picasa or livejournal uploads pictures...
I'm not sure how it works, exactly, but the photos are not uploaded & displayed as gifs. You can't repost the photo to another website, thereby stealing bandwidth because of this.
This would be a plausible solution to bandwidth issues.
