Hey I had a quick question for everyone. I just had a feller come up to me and ask if we gave away free phones and 800 minutes to people who were affected by the hurricane. Supposedly he said that in Texas, VZW is giving away phones and minutes to people who were involved in the hurricane. Well we definately do not give things away for free up here in good ol' MN. But I was just wondering if this guy was completely full of S#*t or if his questions actually had some merit to them. Just curious to anyone who would know???

From what i heard they do offer service and phones to victims, but i believe there are stipulations to it as well.
They used to have info on their website about it but is gone now, so I'm guessing it has been discontinued.
When the info was up i thought it said something about taking place only at the verizon booths set up during the relief efforts and would "qualify" the customers to make sure they met eligibility requirements. (whatever that means)
I'm not 100% so if anyone else knows something different correct me if I'm wrong!
Hope that helps 🙂

So how is it out in CrookDale today? Usually you guys have some drama by now!
Is it that slow there that you don't have anything exciting to share today? 😢
It's kinda weird that he would ask you that question months afterward and ask you so far from that area it wouldn't even matter up here!!
...
yea thats what i was thinking, it was a little odd. I guess they try anything they can up here to get something for free.
Well, there hasn't been any drama today. I haven't sold a phone in about 3-4 days now. That is actually really pathetic since i was leading our market for phone sales the past month or so. It sucks, there are people in the mall, just none of them have credit to buy a phone.

dude......that was half a year ago.....don't give him a damn thing....
btw...I don't work for vzw or anything, but common sense says you should tell them to kiss your ass.
...
haha, well i did. i actually kind of laughed at him, to which i felt somewhat bad about. But why would you come up to a booth in MN and ask about that?

Nope, he's not full of it. There's a FEMA/FCC mandated program to offer aid to Hurricane Katrina (only Katrina, not Rita) victims who lived in certain areas during the hurricane and qualify for FEMA housing relief. The companies that participate each have their own version, whether you get a credit or a free device and a prepaid card or something such as that. On the Verizon site, there's a link right under the pink RAZR picture (at least thats what its showing to me) called Special wireless service for Hurricane Katrina victims. Cingulars link from their home page is under the Current Customers box.
Each company may look at eligibility differently, such as are you still living in the affected county/parish, or did you evacuate but ha...

thanks a lot everyone that was actually very helpful. And actually about 20 mins after i posted the original one, our VZW rep stopped by my kiosk and i got to talk to him about it. I was actually surprised that companies would do this and i think its actually kind of cool.
Anyways.. thanks again everyone.
