I I would like to ask you guys think of this training site I've been
working on for the last few months.

The provider I work for sells a ton of Android phones and I noticed that most of the customers have no idea how to properly use them most of the time. Here is an example. I was helping out a lady with her Android phone when I noticed she didn't have anything on any of her home screens. So I ask her why she didn't use her home screen to organize her apps. She says, "Well if I do that, won't it use all my memory?" After showing her how to use the phone she couldn't have been happier. I would see these situations all the time. So in my web development class I decided to build a site that is geared toward the new Android users. It inclu...

hmmm...... i recommend changing the color schemes a little, i'm not a total fan of the banana yellow accents.

but i like the idea. i'll recommend it to a few customers and see how it goes.

i work for Big Red and they actually released an interactive tutorial for VZW devices at support.vzw.com. that's pretty cool for those other Big Red employees who don't know about it.

Funny that you mentioned the yellow, my mother in law said the same thing. I also work for VZW as a CSR and the customers I've talked have been very excited about it. I would love to see if it helps people get a basic understanding of the phone and lower return rates.

i have the Droid X and also have a couple recommendations for your "suggested apps" page:

Application Protection (set a secondary password to lock certain apps, and require password to delete apps. there are of course other lock apps but i've been using this for two months, it's free, and hasn't force closed once.)

Astro File Manager (self explanatory really. explore your SD cards files and folders.)

Gesture Search (allows you to search for contacts in your contact list by tracing the letters of their name on the screen. still in beta, created by google, and its kinda fun.)

Fast Reboot (akin to the task managers - but a lot of people think that advanced task killer free is great and for froyo that isnt necessarily true. word on...

I can't access the site from work, so I can't see for myself... do you have some sort of system in place to ensure that your viewers are looking at the right version of Android?

Your website is a good idea, although a competent rep SHOULD be doing this in the first place. (i know how many competent reps are actually out there in the sales world though).

I would caution you about recommending applications though due to liablility reasons. For instance, with nesoid you need ROMs to play those games. If you don't own the hard copy of the game you have the ROM for then you are in violation of Piracy laws. You don't want to be in any way held liable for people getting popped for having a large amount of ROM's and then targeting your "how-to" website with the "this guy told me it was ok" defense.

Task killers might do more harm than good as well. Lookout is rumored to sell your information to telemarketers, p...

The retailer i work for actually give free Android classes. We are now doing beginner and then advanced classes.

I think the website it awesome..but sometimes the people who will be able to figure out the site will also be able to figure out the phone.

I sometimes spend ALOT of time helping people figure out their device.
