The Carrier Forums launch page from what I have noticed has always had the Carrier "icons" listed in order of largest carrier to smallest carrier. I noticed recently that T-mobile has overtaken Sprint and Big S has rightfully been demoted to #4 on the hierarchy list.

With the Alltel acquisition, VZW is now bigger then AT&T by subscriber count. Why has this icon re-arrangement on the board launch page not yet been updated?

According to T Mobile, they ended EOY '08 at 32.8 million subscribers where as Sprint's final count was 49.3 million subscriber. I don't believe Sprint has near 17.5 million iDEN aka Nextel customers. I wouldn't be suprised if their iDEN total was less than 10 million. I believe Sprint (CDMA) should be listed as #3, T Mobile USA as #4 and Sprint (iDEN) as #6.

The numbers can be tricky to parse.

With Sprint it's especially tricky. To get Sprint's correct CDMA total, you need to exclude wholesale (Virgin,) prepaid (Boost,) and iDEN (Nextel.)

Thanks your putting things into perspective. At least Sprint is still the #3 wireless carrier in the US when you sum up their total customer base (CDMA, iDEN, MVNOs and Wholesalers). I know everyone likes to bash Dan Hesse as their CEO, but people have to remember the inherited the business mistakes committed by Gary Forsee and his dynasty.
