Hey I was wondering, just kinda of crossed my mind..

Why is it that when you block/delete/remove profile.. you leave all their comments behind..?

Just wondering, cause I noticed it on Myspace.. people that deleted their profiles but comments are still left behind.

Why don't delete comments as well? Too much code? Or cause the rest of the forums won't make sense?

Not all of their posts were against the TOUs. They may have contributed good information at some point. Or a following post may have contained good information. Why bother?

If there are specific messages that violate the ToU, then we delete those.

Deleting innocent messages from the same user simply because they are banned seems... vindictive. I mean... why? 😕

Also, our forum structure is hierarchical. Each thread is like a tree. If we delete a message, all replies below that message are deleted as well. Therefore, for a prolific, long-time poster, deleting everything they've ever written would cause an awful lot of collateral damage. Tons of messages from other users would be deleted as well.

But even if that weren't the case... I just don't see the need to go that far when someone is banned. We don't enjoy banning people. It's not personal. In the unfortunate situations where it's necessary, we'd r...
