I got the "?" running beyond the text box. I'm using IE version 7 with Vista.

Uh-huh.

You hit the 'delete post by moderator' button.

Which combination of smilies did you use again?

(FYI, it wasn't deleted for that. Something above that in the thread was inappropriate. That particular message happened to be a reply to a deleted one.)

As for the issue... it's definitely a bug in IE. It shouldn't look like that; it doesn't do that in Firefox. It's not harmful, so unless people start abusing it, (please don't!) I probably won't do anything to address it.

Same problem with Firefox:

https://www.phonescoop.com/forums/forum.php?fm=m&ff= ... »

You should just take away the ability to change text size. It's pretty obnoxious anyway.

That's a related issue, but technically slightly different.

Unlike the first one, that's not a browser bug. That example does warrant a technical "fix" on our end. I'll work on that.

You should just take out the ability to change the text size. Is there really any practical application for that? I've seen messages where people use the largest text size possible, and I scroll for 30 seconds just to figure out what the first letter is. It's pretty annoying.

The most I can make work is 5 tags.

Otherwise the tags don't close all the way and the rest of the message is stuck in a larger font.

I thin five tags is as big as it will get with IE. As for closing them. I never have a problem. You just have to ensure you put the / in front of five tags following the text as well. 😕

I.E.

🙂

this text should be in standard format.

You need to use close tags. They start with a / (forward slash).

I've just implemented several fixes to the issues raised in this thread.

First, there is now only one "big" text size. The default "big" size is larger than before, but adding additional big tags will no longer make it any larger.

Second, in the event something does go beyond the edge of the message box (such as that IE bug) it will be cropped, instead of overflowing into other parts of the layout.

🙂 Thanks for the feedback everyone, and please let me know if you run into any issues with the new code.

For starters, it's with IE6. It doesn't bother me, I'm just bringing it to your attention.

If you hit Message Above Quoted on this thread
https://www.phonescoop.com/forums/forum.php?fm=m&ff= ... »
while using IE6 the text box is moved way down the page and the text overflows the fields.

Just a heads up. I don't use IE6 often, so it's no biggie to me.
