I recently purchased a U prepaid plan with Alltel. The customer service was very kind, and I am pleased with the service, but I thought I would post how Alltel mislead me when I bought my phone.
1. Voicemail. I did not know this at the time and they didn't tell me this. You are charged for voicemail, when someone leaves you one, or if you check it, even from a landline, per minute. I asked the rep when I bought the phone, and they told me that voicemail was free. I did not know that voicemail was charged per minute. that is a good reason not to get alltel!!!

prepaid is good for a few people. Kids, people that just need a phone for emergencies, and people that don't pay their bills and can't get a post paid phone.

If you will read....they still have Alltel and like it a lot. Those were just a few things they weren't aware of. I knew about those things when I got a prepaid plan, but I am an above average cell phone user/shopper.
Every carrier has there gotchas. Alltel of all carriers have the least.

you're a F***ing moron 🙄

Hey booby, I undestand your concerns the biggest problem is that you are still on prepaid. Switch onto the postpaid rate plans and #1- save a bunch of money and #2 Get way more bang for your buck!

I would, but I am only 13 and I have to pay for my phone and plan, and I wouldn't use my phone enough to use 100 minutes a month.

this doesn't even deserve a response.......13

why is 74 cents outrageous to you? You are on the pay per minute plan (15 cents a minnute) and the roaming charge is 59 cents a minute. I will go ahead and do the math for you if you haven't gotten to it yet.... 15 + 59 = 74.
secondly, when you were out of your area was your roaming indicator flashing or solid. Flashing = normal rate, solid = roaming charges.

Bobby, when you are in one of the 'solid' roaming areas you are going to pay roaming AND long distance, because you are out of your home area.
