Incoming calls getting "customer unavailable" recording
I am using Simple Freedom which is prepaid service for Alltel and my phone is a nokia 3587. I have been with this phone and service for about six months but there has been a problem which just started over the past week. I have been told by two different people that they could not reach me and the call was routed to a recording that said that this customer is not available but I do have voicemail. At about the same time that one of these calls was made, I could not send outgoing text messages. This only happens sometimes. I am pretty sure that I had a signal and the calls that I know about were made from land lines.
I live in Richmond VA and my phone shows a signal at all times. I know that I should get a signal from Alltel, and if not Ve...

It does that when your out of daytime minutes but still have night and weekend minutes...or at least it does that on regular prepaid with Alltel...

I had just refilled the minutes the minutes before this happened.

I'd check to make sure my unanswered call were forwarding to voicemail. Otherwise, it could have been some weird system glitch. Not sure if the rep to whom you spoke didn't hear that you had voicemail or ???. I'm not sure if prepaid has anything to do with forwarding to voicemail or not, someone more familiar with Alltel's parameters can speak to that better than I...

you could try *720 and *710 and see if that helps. Maybe forwarding was set up accidentally. Also you can try doing *78 to see if it needs to be reactivated. Sounds like maybe voicemail was somehow removed from the account.

I only receive a few calls a week but since I posted this everyone has been able to get through so I cant say for sure that it stopped. My theory is that this was some sort of network issue since it only happened for about a week and then it was not at all the time.

This sure sounds like what we had happen a couple of weeks ago. I had to refund the customer's money for phone and minutes.
The phone would send calls but not receive, lasted for 3-4 days with customer service saying that they had no eta on a resolution.
They did say it was a "network/billing" problem
but neither one really explained what happened.
Needless to say, I'm not selling any prepay's
until they tell me it's fixed.
We're in Oklahoma, a new market for Alltel, and a lot of folks around here are still mad about the less than diplomatic contacts from Alltel when they bought out AT&T....
looks like it will be awhile before traffic picks up.
