Worst service in American history !!

maximus2

I live in the Foxcities of Wisconsin. I have been calling Alltel stores in Oshkosh and Appleton since 4:00 yesterday -- non-stop -- and have yet to talk to a human being. During the 5th ring it transfers you to the country-wide number, so I hang up after 4 rings and hit redial. I have tried the Oshkosh retail store over 300 times in the last day. They have not answered their phone once. What a company.......

Try it yourself and see what I mean. The Oshkosh number is 920-233-7173.

Try the number I just posted. If they answer, I'll buy you a steak dinner. One condition. You only get 300 tries. 😲

oh i'm not debating. i'm sure they're not answering. but come on buddy, worst?

one time the guy from mcdonalds spilt my milkshake into my car while trying to hand it to me, then i pulled around and the manager came out with some cleaner to help me clean my seats. the cleaner had bleach in it and ruined my seat. then my fries were cold. and they didn't give me any sweet and sour sauce. that was pretty bad. i think maybe that was the worst customer service of all time 🙂

Why don't you call Customer Service (800-255-8351). The Store may have a second number that is not on the website they can connect you to. They may even be able to answer your questions.

Call me silly, but I just figured I should be able to talk to a human being in a retail store located 5 miles from my house. The tally is now 0-for-425.

Now THERE's a good idea, and I'm not being sarcastic. USCC is my favorite carrier, but I just wanted to ask Alltel a quick question. Incidentally -- to the other gentleman that was sticking up for Alltel -- consider this. Let's pretend you own a store. Let's further pretend that Jane Doe comes up to you one day and says "Hey Bill, no-one's answering the phone at your store!" Would you say to her, "Jane, you lazy *itch. Start walking your lazy azz down to the store!!" Not a good idea in my humble opinion.

ITS FIVE MILES AWAY AND YOU'VE CALLED OVER 400 TIMES? whoa, dude, you need a hobby. you know, in the time you've spent calling that number you probably could have walked down there and installed thirty phone lines for them.

here's a secret, if you call a number 400 times and aren't getting a response, you're probably not dialing the right number...

Maximus2,
You have every right to be upset about them not answering the phone, but...considering that it's that close to you and they're not answering..why wouldn't you just go down there to ask your question and to complain to the manager about the phone situation? Calling that many times does seem kinda crazy considering how close you live. I'm not saying walk...though I know it wasn't meant to be literal, but drive..yea. If I were you I would've been upset enough after calling five times to go to the store to see what the deal was...just my 2 cents. Good luck with your situation.

After reading the other posts I wanted to add that I have been in an Alltel store and had to wait for a really long time to be helped simply because half the world was in the store that day...so if I had to wait in the store, with them working as quickly and as efficiently as possible...I'd imagine no one would be available to answer the phone when it's crazy like that. ...Just something to keep in mind during your rage. I'm sure it's inconvenient, but imagine how pissed you'd be if you went down to the store and they let you stand around for hours while they answered phones in your face.

The thing you have to remember is this: cellular stores require computer terminals to conduct their business. You can't have too many more reps than you have terminals in the store or you do a disservice to all of the customers that made the trip to the store. Any business runs this way. Customers in the store take precedence over possible customers on the phone. Haven't you ever tried to call a store on the day after Thanksgiving? You can't get through. Same thing here. If the store is busy enough where they can't get to the phone, then they are doing something right. Answering the phones is low on the list because customer care is the back up line. Why? Wireless companies understand that tehre are times when the phones will go unanswered. ...

so you think they should hire someone simply to answer phones?

No. I'm saying Alltel need to hire more people to handle the in-store traffic plus telephone calls plus whatever-whatever. The motto at my workplace is "Whatever it takes". It's another way of saying Nike's motto "Just do it". If you can't deal with all the people and answer the phones, hire more people. No excuses.

Wow...from the sound of your post, I wouldn't want to talk to you either! Let's say that ALLTEL is open...what...10 hours a day? If you call 300 times, that means you're calling them 30 times an hour. That breaks down to once every 2 minutes! What a colossal waste of time and energy. Now realistically, I figure you've called 30 times (that gives you a more realistic figure of 3 times per hour).

No granted, they may not be answering their phones for some reason (wouldn't be the first time I've seen a store forget to take a phone off night-mode), but anybody that comes out with the whining attitude you opened up with simply has an axe to grind. If it of that dire importance, I'm sure the customer care department that you were transferred to...

Ok. I work at an alltel store. When there are 50 people in the store and the phone is ringing, which one do you think is more important? The people calling in are just calling to ask a stupid question (like what time do you close? or can I make a payment over the phone? or do you have any specials this month?) We are not paid to answer phones. You are transferred to the Alltel Customer Care because they are paid to talk on the phone. If there is no one in the store, yeah we will answer the phone, but have you been into a retail store lately? They are never empty. I would love to have the time to stop doing what I am doing to talk to a person like you on the phone for 30 minutes, but I just do not have the time. Chances are that the store you...

While I think it's ridiculous that they haven't answered their phone, most retail locations for any type of business are required to help the customers IN the store before answering the phone, because chances are the customers IN the store actually want to spend money. That's what customer service numbers are for.

lnknprkrox83 I think you have made one of the best points by far! I think if every single person in this country had to work in a cellular retail store(or probably any retail store for that matter) and finally encounter all of the crap the reps have to go through on a daily basis, I think most of them would have a change of heart. They would think twice before they decide to act out about something that could be understood if they simply to the time to do so. 😁

Hey you must not have a job. Get one and see what it is like to multi-task in this day and age.
Especially in a cellular market.

...Take bill payments, answer overage questions, flash software, do OTC exchanges and warranty swaps, download phonebooks via computer, deal with foolish "contract renewal" complaints (everyone wants a free phone, but there is no such thing as a "free lunch"), sell services, review products and services, deal with potential fraud issues, answer calls from customers you have personally delt with, and that have YOUR business card.
