SMS Message or EMS Message

Whenever I received text messages it used to always show I had a SMS message. I have noticed that today when I get some of text messages it shows I have an EMS message. Is the EMS message Verizons terms?

If I remember correctly, EMS is more closely related to MMS, because it contains icons/sound effects.
