Help in choosing a phone!!

I am about to activate a new line with Alltel and wanted some opinions on which phone to choose. The most important things in this order are talk time, reception, and I prefer a phone with EVDO. I can't believe that the razr doesn't have EVDO (bad mistake). I have a personal phone that is a razr anyways so I am really not interested in having 2 of the same phones, but I want the best choice. The Alltel rep I spoke to really pushed the razr. I would really appreciate any advice. Thanks!!! 🙂 🙂

My wife has been very pleased with the LG 8600. If that helps. Great reception!

Has she had issues with her battery? I have read a few bad reviews on the phone, becuase of battery issues. I like the LG phones on Alltel's network they seem to work very well. I used to have the AX5000 and enjoyed it.

none so far and she sent mine to me in japan for when I travel back I can use it and it took 10 days to sit there and die so I can remove the battery and store it. That is also with it searching for service as of course there is none here!

It's called the Alltel Wave, and it WILL have a 1.3 mp camera with video capture as well as an mp3 player with expandable memory. i think it will look very similar to the ax275, but i don't know anything else.

I'm with wombough. Get the lg 8600 or maybe even the samsung hue. The "wave" is kind of ugly to me and is not near appealing as the 8600.

I am sold on the 8600, since the battery life is fixed that was my only concern. Like I said I like the LGs on Alltel's network. Thanks everyone for your help!! I will follow up with my comments once I get it. 😁

That doesn't mean your phone is great. No if you said other alltel phones can't get a signal at your house then its the phone.

But glad the razr is working for you. All my friends have had nothing but issues with them!

I have 5 lines on my Alltel account,, and i have always had excellent service with the motorola brand,, one of my phones is the E 815 which my grand daughter uses,, she has a friend with a E 815 with qwest,, she has to go out side and climb a small hill in our front yard to recieve a signal. (I mean out in the country).Other friends with verizon have similar results. Not knocking anyones carrier,, but in the low signal (rural) area we are located,, alltel does perform for us.
Hopefully other towers will be located in the future to help cover some of the dead and low signal areas
To give you a idea about how rural we are,,, it is not uncommon to see Jack Rabbits carring a canteen...Hope this helps ya

Alltel covers more square miles then any other carrier by quite a bit and they are only in 33 states. They have by far the best rural coverage!!

If you've already chosen the LG 8600, you picked a good phone. We've had to replace several of them, primarily in gold and a few in green, because of the paint peeling off. Glad they've fixed the battery life issue. I am also impressed on first blush with the new LG Wave. I love the lines...I don't think it's ugly at all! Bluetooth, decent camera...feels solid, too. I'm still sold on the V3m, though, and I'm already chomping at the bit to see what the RAZR2, the V9m, is like when we get it. My RAZRS work just fine, in metro areas as well as rural areas. The EVDO situation is getting better, too. The western side of Virginia's Shenandoah Valley will be EVDO compliant by the first of September! Woo-hoo!!!
