Why must u lie sales reps?

Ok went into the alltel store with my Verizon razor and they said they couldn't use the phone with alltel. Pretty much after 20 mins of fighting with him I left the store. I went home called 1-800-255-8351 and the very nice lady had my phone(verizon razor) working on the alltel network. My dad has been with alltel since 1993 and Ive been with them since 2002. The people at that store really act like they don't want our business no more which is fine. My dad already switched his line to verizon and I haven't been on contract since 2004. I just cant wait for my mom contract to end and we all goto Verizon. Alltel seriously needs 2 step its game up or they going 2 lose alot of "Loyal" customers.

I am not making an excuse for the people at the Alltel retail location, but if they are unable to "flash" your Verizon RAZR so that the Alltel software can be loaded to work with your Alltel service plan, the folks at the store were not lying to you. Did you have your phone manually programmed by 1-800-ALLTEL1? And it's working OK? This is very good information, as I am a wireless consultant in the Shanandoah Valley in Virginia. Really, though, most phones, the same models found on Alltel that other services also use, cannot be switched back and forth. I heard the other day about a former Alltel customer taking his Alltel phone to the regional company, nTelos, who flashed his phone with the nTelos software, and after a few months, decid...

TOP 5 REASONS WHY ALLTEL's CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NUMBER ONE!

5.
The sales reps are intentionally kept in the dark about the status of Alltel and it's Roaming areas so that when you leave you will leave with that warm feel good feeling that everything will be ok. They never lie because they just flat out don't know any better.
4.
The phones that Alltel brings out have been around for so long it simple to support them seeing as there is tons of updates and troubleshooting knowledge available for all the known problems on the phone.
3.
At least one Alltel store in every city has an Alltel Chad look alike working there who will giggle like a girl and dance with you to distract you from what a huge mistake you are making by switching to All...

EVERYBODY has different problem's with every carrier so here they come and bash that carrier on these forumns. I LOVE alltel, i have had them since january and anytime i call in they answer quick and are very polite. If they do not know the answer they willl find out. If you have any issues they will always fix it. I just recieved a letter and my phone number is randomly selected to get 100 extra FREE minutes everymonth. They are always doing little things to help. Personally ever since cingular became at&t i cannot stand them. They are rude and nasty, they do not care or even pretend to care about the customer.

wow you are a very misinformed person...i've been a sales rep/manager for alltel for the last 3 years and have very little complaints about improperly billed roaming charges. it's as easy as looking at a map of alltel's coverage to see where you'd be roaming regardless if you're on national or greater freedom.
your old phone remark is a thing of the past for alltel, they've put out the wafer, lg 490, strobe and hue first just to name a few.

my name is chad but i look nothing like the fellow in the commercials, and switching to alltel is not a mistake at all, you'd be hard pressed to find better coverage with cheaper rates.

again, back to the roaming charges, you probably just cant read or map or listen effectively, your own ignoranc...

Once there is a PRL update. Your phone will not work! I have activated many VZW phones for the Alltel network. Many un-flashed. So I promise you that once there is a PRL update, it will not work. But that's ok, you can just blam Alltel for that one too.

Agreed. I'm not Alltel, but when Alltel phones (wiped out and reprogrammed) get put on USCC's network, they report roaming no matter where the user is. And I'm sure that Alltel's do the same thing with their non branded stuff.

the rep didn't lie to you.. they were only telling you that to protect you from incurring roaming charges in areas that you should normally not be charged for roaming.. even though you called into cust serv and so very easily had your service changed to a verizon phone.. the csr and the system really doesn't konw the esn from that phone that you gave them, to be activated on your number was a phone from verizon.. it only knew that it was a cdma technology phone.. and unless u have a phone that automatically updates itself.. you are probably still programmed to a verizon system.. and even still, if you have one that auto updates, it may still not update itself.. so beware of the possibility of these roaming charges that may or may not show up...

Alright Weedo (appropriate?)
Go ahead use your Verizon phone on Alltel. Because it does not have the alltel software, which by the way can not be flashed to a phone allthe time. There are a few things you may want to be aware of...
1) This has been the case (to the best of my knowledge for at least 4 years) that if you incur any roaming charges Alltel will not be responsible since you do not have alltel equip. Negative PRL's and such. Good luck with that.
and 2) you might not be able to use the applicatin to download ringtones, send pictures and other data related stuff.

So, the rep may not have lied to you after all but the rep that changed you to a verizon phone may not have given you all the warnings. I guess it's only a lie when...

The reps in the Whiteville, NC company store are the same. They don't know their stuff. They have HORRIBLE attitudes and they drag around like they could care less.

If you're not buying a phone, you're wasting their precious time.

Customer service -- call a number or sit and wait for someone from the back room to mysteriously appear every hour or two.

I avoid the store like the plague. If I need anything, I go online or dial 611.

Im suprised you would want to activate an vzw phone on alltels network. But please keep using it bacause your only making profits soar with roaming charges to your bill, but please dont complain to customer service and when you switch dont bash alltel. Ive been on the service since it was 360 and i currently sell att, tmob and sprint(gee wonder why i dont switch, its because of the customer service and coverage!!) but you keep making alltel profit. If they do sell alltel off then well we will deal with that prob go to sprint same tech and only 20bucks a month!!

The whole thing is a tricky subject. Yes because Verizon also uses CDMA technology it is possible to activate a Verizon phone on Alltel. However due to the software differences your odds of dropping calls, signal, etc. are far greater. Most times when a cust successfully finds somebody to do this they regret it later and buy another alltel phone.
