2 suggestions. 1. go to a nextel store to have it done. 2. if you have an account on nextel.com you need to go to the phonebook section then send it as a text message to your phone.

i hope that helps...

hows the bb7520? by the way you have to get a data plan to use it.

any questions ask and i will try to help answer them.

No,Nextel stores will not transfer contacts from a Mot phone to the BB. And no, again, you can not upload to Address Book and send it to the BB as a text message. As a self proclaimed Nextel "expert" you are full of wrong answers.
You can, on the other hand, upload the Mot phone to the Nextel Address Book and download the data as a .csv file. From there import into Outlook and sync with the BB. This is contingent on the Mot phone being active still.
Second option, but not as fun, is use the free Mot iDEN Phone Book manager software and upload your Mot phonebook to your computer. From there you can save it as a .csv file and import into Outlook and sync. This will cause duplicate entries that need to be converged.

You are correct, RIM phones are RAM based nor sim based storage. Even tho they use a SIM the data they store is not saved on the SIM.

Thanks for that info. The only option you've suggested that is available to me is using the IDEN Phonebook Manager. I have my contact list stored in their proprietary mdb format but can find no option to store as a csv.

What am I missing?

You know, when you perpetuate false information, you're only hurting the people who come here to work their way through problems. Good job. Keep it up.

No you can't. Over the air programming is sent to SIM based phones. Since the Blackberries store contact information on the device and not the SIM you can not use the Nextel.com online address book and send contacts down to the Blackberry.

very interesting what Markf found.

"To transfer your existing contact information - names, phone numbers, etc. - from your home or office, use Nextel’s Address Book, a web-based mobile contact management system at nextel.com. If you do not already have Address Book service, visit our Address Book section for details and contact your sales representative or Customer Care to add it to your plan.

For step-by-step instructions on how to use Address Book to transfer your contact information, see the How to Transfer Contacts Online section in Address Book.

*SIGH*
I know you will dispute this as well, but did you bother to read the header of that link:

"Getting the Most From Your New 3-Digit Series Phone"

What is discussed is how to get contact information from a 2-digit phone into a new 3-digit phone. Yes, a Nextel service center will do that - a $30.00 charge I believe, or Address Book can be used. This has nothing to do with transferrig information from a Mot phone to a Blackberry.

Looking at the iDEN International section on Motorola's website.

International iDEN coverage seems limited to Argentina, Brazil, Columbia, Mexico, Peru, and South Korea... So how did you get coverage in Switzerland?

How could there be a glitch in a cell phone tower when the cell phone tower for that sepcific technology (iDEN) doesn't even exist in that area?

In order for there to be a glitch, there would have to be some sort of iDEN service in that area, but there isn't. No iDEN tower, no glitch. It's fairly simple.

Apr 28, 2005, 8:31 AM
It's nice that you make a claim like that and all, but making a claim is easy.

It's clearly impossible for you to have made a call considering the i730 is not a dual band phone. And secondly, there is absolutely no iDEN service in Switzerland, or the airport over there.

No iDEN service = No phone call.

lol.. hahaha. i was there my friend. i know what happened. it worked. my parents can vouch for me becuase they were there too.

Apr 28, 2005, 8:40 AM
Lets re-cap.

I've manage to provide sufficiant evidence that it's not possible for an iDEN phone to work there.

And you've provided.... a claim.

Claims are like parking tickets, they dont mean a thing.

If you're the "Nextel expert" you claim to be, you'd be able to at the least, explain how an iDEN phone could work where there is no iDEN service, and a glitch could only occur if there was iDEN service there which obviously, there is none.

If Nextel and Motorola say it wont work there, it wont work there. Now, personally, am I as well as others going to believe Motorola and Nextel, or "Nextel 18: Supposed Nextel Expert With No Sources, Only Empty Claims"?

again, it worked for for a few mins i made a few calls. thats it. it wasnt supposed to work, but it did. how many times do i have to say that? i bet when i go there again in a few weeks it wont work with my 860. it was just a slim chance that it happened.

i feel bad for you.
...
HeroPsychoDreamer

Apr 28, 2005, 8:45 AM
Don't feel bad for me, I'm not the one making things up.

You can say it as many times as you'd like, it's not getting anymore truthful.

You don't have to tell me it wont work when you go there again, I already know that it wont.

making things up? hahahah right. why would i? no point of doing so, sorry. it happened. period. done. next. cant move onto the next topic huh?

see its people like you who turn a subject/thread into some differnt subject and people get turned off by it. first we talked about the bb7520 now we talk about this. whats the point?

good luck sir. if you have anything else to say then i am all ears, but if your going to continue with your pathetic posts then i am done with you. (especially on this matter becuase you dont know what i went through when i was there. )

good luck.

I didn't think you had to have the data plan to use the 7520.
If you don't want to have the e-mail pushed to your phone, or don't want to pay the extra $35 to access your e-mail, can't you just use a voice plan to use the 7520???
