Hey NEXTEL8, it looks like EV DV has hit the end of the road, VIVA REV A!!!
...
yea, i know DV is going bye bye. qualcomm is stopping its production. viva rev a? mmm not sure. look at WIMAX and Flarion... rev a isnt safe yet.
...
I heard recently in Wirelessweek that all carriers will be going to OFDM or whatever Flarion offers eventually. Rev A is supposed to be the Sprint/Nextel path for now though isn't it once they get EV DO going?
...
yea, rev a will be nextel/sprint's paths, however, sprint wants to roll out wimax or flarion over its do system. they would do that for basically in the rural areas or maybe in the cities and a lot of capacity problems areas. as you knwo mmds spectrum helps relive those coverage/capacity issues.
i dont think the other carriers could actually go to flarion which is ofdm or wimax, becuase they dont have the spectrum for it, and i belive the fcc hasnt auctioned any yet. *i could be wrong though^
...
I'm bored with 3G, we need the 4G stuff to start rolling, hahaha.
...
but DO rev O and A isnt really 3G speeds. i would say that A is becuase it gets approx 1.5-3mb/s and usually stays about that. i think 3g would be flarion ofdm then 4g would be Wimax. who cares i guess as long as you get the good price over a good network area for good speeds.
thats all the consumers really care about.
...
Isn't 3G anything over 156kb/s? I thought that was the magic number. You will like EV DO when you get your hands on it or you can stop by a VZW store and demo it if you are bored. Speaking of boredom if you have time check out deadcellzones.com it is an independent site and of course the bigger the carrier the better chance of being reported but check it out if you've never been on it.
...
then we can say that edge and things like that are 3g, but they arent.
i dont really want to try anything thats from veirzon wireless to be honest. i dont like their business practice nor their pricing.
...
you can just play in the store and see what Sprint will be offering soon.
...
sprint will be offering the same thing, i belive, but i think sprint will have better content and things on it. i also belive that sprint will still be number 1 when it comes to data and data revenue as a portion of their arpu.
...
They do a good job of getting the techy types to spend cash. it will also depend on who has the larger business customer base I would think. ATT used to have the top but now it's Stinkular and Verizon was second in that segment but with Sprint/Nextel joining forces that could change.
...
actually nextel and sprint were number 1 in the data arena as data arpu to overall arpu if i recall. att wireless/cingular/tmobile verizon were never ever good with data.
...
I meant the business customer base. I know that Verizon has been adding serious data accounts according to my bro and that Data revenue is really picking up.
...
oh ok. according to my resources and sources verizon has been gaining some market share but not a lot and not that signifcant. nextel and sprint basically have all of the businesses while verizon has a lot of the consumers.
...
Seaking of business I'm outa here, my SBC buddy owes me some serious drinks and that bonus check of his should cover it, hahaha.
...
thats right. it better cover it!!
have fun duude.

This is from RCR, can't get the whole story off their site but it was in their latest mailing.

ST. LOUIS-U.S. wireless operators will slowly migrate from CDMA networks to Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing technology as they move from third generation to fourth generation, according to a report from
Flarion kicks the panties off of HSDPA right??
...
it depends what types of revisions does HSPDA has and what Flarion has. Hsdpa is basically good on paper, but can it be good in trials? maybe, who knows. flarion was very good with the nextel trial, eventhough they wont use it. flarion's latency is faster and better then HSDPA plus when you are far away from the tower the flarion's speeds dont go down as much as Hsdpa and others do.
i guess overall it is better, but right now hsdpa might be better for providers from a capex standpoint becuase there a lot of hsdpa supporters or (wcdma) but there arent a lot of vendors and supporters for flarion. same goes with wimax.
