Actually its 49.99 if you go to the local stores in lexington kentucky.

it is 55.99 actually. its for the monthly bill not for the cell phone.

again, if you dont like nextel's rate plans then find another provider that suits you.

nextel usually comes out with new plans every month.

if you hate nextel so much go to another provider that you think has better plans.

I like nextel here, and cant wait for merger with sprint. But nextel18, here in kentucky they are running Nationwide FastTalker 2. Which is the same plan as the one on the website, but for new subscribers it is 49.99 a month. I almost ordered through the website, and i went to the local store and it was 49.99, and the i730 with 2 year agreement is 69.99. So i went with that. He said the 49.99 rate plan only applies to new subscribers and is something they are doing in my kentucky area.

Im not trying to get smart with you or anything, im just saying in my area they are running it for 49.99 instead of the website price of 55.99.

oh i know. rate plans change a lot in each market. i wont say you are wrong, but you can be. in his areas it could be 55 while yours it could be 49.00. it all depends where you are.

yea, i cant wait for the nextel/sprint merger too.

Is it the same or is it similar? some plans are usually similiar not really exact.

i do hate nextel even though i would like one b/c alot of my friends have ones....but now that i see my friends licking their antennas to get service (w/ nextel) b/c they state it gives them service...i dont want one...especially since everywhere we go and nextel has no service while i have service wit tmo....thanks anyway

everywhere you go nextel has no service? lol that is kind of a stupid statment to say. everywhere i go nextel works perfecetly and i travel all over the united states. maybe they have defected phoens or live in the areas where 1. cell phones dont even exist. 2. they are in a big city where capacity is a problem for all cell phones. 3. they arent important enough to have towers there...

that is sometimes the case unfort.

tmobile isnt a good company anyway. pretty soon they will be having a lot of problems since att/cing merged, verizon, nextel/sprint merge and tmobile will be on its little bitty self.

tmobile will be facing difficulty....

im sorry not everywhere i go but rather in basements and buildings...i live on long island which is extremely populated and everyones got cell phones so i dont think thats the problem. i think its just new york in general b/c upstate in albany and north many ppl complain of their service up their as well.
...

Feb 28, 2005, 10:26 PM
yea, well in buildings and in basements phones have never worked for nextel or really for other carriers that well. signals have trouble going there. they are doing things to fix it though. more towers, the voice coder, buying more spectrum etc...

actually the main reason why in a populated area that signal would be lacking is mainly becuase of capacity and spectrum problems in that area.

nyc has a big populated area, and sometimes where i go the service would go in and out too much. that shows that the towers are being overwhelmed. unfort, thats life. we cant do a thing about it.

again, in any populated area there will be problems.

tmobile has terrible coverage in comparison to cingular/att wireless.

tmobile does NOT have a high speed data that cingular/wireless and other providers will get.

they could have better data and voice plans, but so what? if you have a company that has 16 million subscribers vs the rest of the market that has 30 million+ you wont last long. since the other providers are growing faster and gaining more providers than that little 16 million provider it wont last.

in this business you have to offer a lot of services to entice subscribers, tmobile doesnt have the things to entice them. the other providers do.

whats the best thing that tmobile has? a hot looking spokeswoman. thats pretty much it.

again, if the other carriers g...

tmobile does not have terrible coverage by far in certain areas...for instance ny...now nextel on long island has terrible service....tmobile apparently is doing the right thing since their still getting the customers even if they only have great voice and data plans...edge works based on how close you are to the tower otherwise u go back to gprs so edge is not that special..but anyway tmobile is getting edge and its already avaiable in some markets so they can compete...and there going to skip utms and jump right to the good stuff hdsa or w.e. tmobile will not fail anytime soooon

who cares about edge. edge can go up to what 250kb/s? and what are they charging or will charge? 70 bucks or so per month? look at DO rev o and REV A they will be faster speeds at affordable prices. (i dont care of what verizon does right now they are a total wrip off) Wimax will destroy umts/hsdpa and REV O and A as well, and the only few providers can do that are nextel and sprint.

speeds are effected in every way by distance cept for ofdm and wimax. ev-do, edge, and other data speeds like that gets heavily affected by distances.

"edge works based on how close you are to the tower otherwise u go back to gprs so edge is not that special"

this is wrong. edge may work, but you wont get the speeds if you were right next to a towe...

tmobile has WinMax? lol what is that? if your talking about wimax, that isnt even available yet lol.. so i think you should just shut up for once. you do not know what your are talking about. you should understand that a carrier with only 16 million subscribers vs providers who have 30+ million subscribers will not last. i am sorry that your company is tmobile and the one thats 16 million subscribers, but face reality please. soon nextel/sprint, verizon, and cinglar/att wireless will start to steal away tmobile's base subscribers.. tmobile doesnt have anything that differentiates itself from its competitors and in this business as well as others, you need that to win in the marketplace.

it seems like you dont know business so take some b...

those surveys dont mean anything, becuase they are usually biased and they dont have as many subscribers as the total subscribers as all of the providers.

sorry. what stands for me and for all is about their churn and arpu and lifetime revenue per user. (average rate per user= arpu) not some stupid biased survey.

since churn, arpu, and lifetime revenue per user is number 1 and the best against the other providers, that is what counts.

sorry.

again, stick to calling on your cell phone, becuase you dont know anything about the business world.

i mean if a plan is successful why not just leave the price? i mean i am involved in that stuff with marketing and things of that nature.. and if a product and price is very good i would just leave it.

It sounds to me like Ace2525 is in a Nextel Partners Market. Plans and Phone pricing are completely different than in the National Market. You will also find that web pricing as well as telesales pricing is also different. Trust me, I am a Dealer in the Nextel Partners Market, and it gets confusing for myself as well as my customers. They see the commercials and want the same pricing or want to know why they paid $10 bucks more for a phone they saw advertized on TV. I actually lose alot of sa...

thats a stupid question... becuase they can and they are. many people pay it actually. if you dont want to pay for VM and caller id.. get the more expensive plans THAT INCLUDE THEM!!!

maybe sprint can make something of nextel and create some good plans now that they merged...iden will be wiped out and cdma will take over.
...
nextel18

Feb 28, 2005, 10:23 PM
well i dont think so. nextel and sprint has the highest arpu.. meaning people are actually paying more for their services then other providers. iden wont be dissapearing any time soon. you will see it around for 3-5 years... qchat will have to be very successful.
...
Ace2525

Mar 1, 2005, 4:55 PM
and y will iden not be disappearing....sprint didnt pay all that money for nextel and not merge the services to have better services...and surely sprint is not going to switch to iden so nextel must go to cdma and drop iden
...
nextel18

Mar 1, 2005, 7:24 PM
nextel will still have iden for about 3-4 years and could extend it just for public safety and push to talk centric users. we will see though. sprint bought nextel becuase of its spectrum, towers, and most important their clients.

again, nextel wont drop iden yet.
