I tried to see if EV DO picked up in St Louis and it doesn't, the 1x coverage wasn't that great either.

St Louis didn't have EV DO. I checked the 1x speeds and had anywhere from 68-142kps but the problem was keeping a signal on the highway outside of the city while going 75-80mph. I was happy to keep up on my emails and went on a few websites and it's fun to see people driving next to you freak when you are on the Laptop in a car downloading web sites. I think Verizon just got spectrum in the latest auction for St. Louis so my guess is that they will build the EV DO on the 1900 they picked up.

wow those 1x speeds were terrible. the problem is when you are going 70-80mph can your EVDO and 1x speeds run at the rate that its supposed to. just like can it run when your not as close to the towers. that is why wimax and flarion, in my opinion, are better then EVDO. mmds/itfs help those problems with the coverage/capacity issues and it wont get effected that much as DO, 1x, widen, edge and other high speed data.
i think thats what the carriers need to work on, as well as with the in-building coverage or lack there of.
