I do have verizon right now and I am planning to switch to nextel because of free incoming calls. I was wondering how is the coverage in the bay like near fremont.

Realizing that you are with Verizon I first have to qualify that the "coverage maps" found at Nextels web site are real coverage maps... although there may be area of no service found within these covered areas the maps are drawn as conservative coverage from the sites in the network... they are comprised of "rings", proposed coverage based upon site configuration, its elevation, and power output... they have a site they draw a conservative ring around it and build maps comprised of these rings.

Go to nextel.com and highlight services... go to coverage... click there and type in your zip code... It looks like Fremont is covered well...

Best of luck.

you should also call up customer care and ask them if they have coverage, tech support would know also.

Now it's obvious that the original poster has internet access, duh! Why would he call customer service when a graphical representation shown on NEXTEL's website would say a lot more than some phone jockey saying.... yup, we got service there"

You just amaze me sometimes!

well they can look online which isnt usually 100 percent accurate or they can ask customer care and tech support. i would trust customer care and tech support. maybe ask other people in that area if they have nextel too.

Doesn't the tech support person check a graphical representation too?

SKK:

I live in Livermore and commute to Fremont over the Sunol Grade every day. I have NO reception problems.. even going over Highway 84. I get a full strength signal in the Warm Springs area.
