"Don't drop Dad"

So there are now giant billboards over NYC that say:

Don't drop Dad!
T-mobile has the fewest dropped calls in New York.

Did T-mobile pull a cingluar and throw money at telephia to make this claim? Or is there another " leading independant wireless research company" out there?

Actually, JD Powers is the "Leading Independent Wireless Research Company" and they told T-Mobile that they have the fewest dropped calls in the NYC area...

I'm pretty sure that's incorrect.

The "leading independent research organization" is said to have done drive testing of the network on T-Mobile's own website in the disclaimer. JD Powers certainly does not perform their own drive testing of the wireless companies. Their results are based on consumer polls.

'Clearest sounding calls nationwide' and ‘Fewest dropped calls’ claims based on a leading independent research organization's MOS and dropped call results derived from 12-month (June '05-June '06), voice drive study conducted in 35 major metropolitan areas which encompass 47% of total US population.

It is really quite simple queen GSM isalways going to have fewer dropped calls then CDMA so the leading company in fewer dropped calls has to be either T-Mob or Cingy. The study and the company that T-Mobile used for there study were exactly the same as Cingulars. Keep in mind what that means it means that both companies info comes from the exact same study. That study concludes that Cingular has the fewest dropped calls nation wide. Which is true. That study also is a regional study Cingular just chose to convenently ignore the regional aspect. T-mobile the study concluded tha T-Mob does if fact drop less calls in a few markets around the country NY happens to be one of them. Another is Miami and LA what does that tell you? It tells you wha...

That's a big load of bull.

Where did you "actually go to find" this information? I did some research myself and everything I have found says differently.

I honestly don't even know why I'm responding to your nonsense because you never respond to facts when you try to stir up trouble.

"Cingular claims that an independent study of more than 300 markets, which include about eight in 10 U.S. residents, showed that it had the fewest dropped calls. Cingular said T-Mobile cited data from the same study to falsely claim it had fewer dropped calls in the 35 biggest U.S. metropolitan areas, including New York, Chicago and Houston."

That clear enough for you?

This ranks as one of the most ignorant comments I've heard about cellular technology. Congrats, you easily cracked the top 5 on that one.
