New Customer???

Since i can not get a decent upgrade price from T-mobile, how long after canceling your account, before you can be consider a new customer? I have already fulfilled my 1 year contract. Been with T-mobile 22 months. Wanted to upgrade to V600, and they wanted $349.99. 👿 They claim since i only have a 29.99 plan, i do not qualify for anything better at this time. If it is only a few months, maybe the V625 will be out by then, and then I'll get a sweet deal on Amazon. Hate to lose my number, but it is only a number, and to save $200.++ is worth it.

You don't have to lose your number... why don't you just port your number out to another carrier! even though you cancel T-Mobile, you can still take your number to a better carrier like VZW, Cingular, even Sprint.

You clearly dont know what you are talking about. If you cancel your number then you lose your number so it can no longer be ported.

or depending on the specific carrier even after you cancel you're line you should have a period of time where you can reactivate and keep the same number you could also do this and the just port it out from there...

if you cancel your number, you CANNOT port it. once you cancel, it is no longer YOUR number...it goes back into the carrier's number pool and can be freely assigned to anybody else on a new activation... if this happens, you cannot port the number because your information will not match the the customer information of the person who that number was reassigned to. usually there is about a...

Same situation here....(In fact I am on the $19.99 plan coz I just want to keep my number and I am using Nextel and my Nextel contract is ending soon) and I called last week to ask for upgrade to V600 and they told me this same ridiculous price $349 👿 !!!! So I insist that I will port the current T-Mobile and my Nextel number to Cingular instead of adding my Nextel number to my exsisting T-Mobile account. So they finally offer me $269 for the V600 upgrade, but I am still not happy with it...coz most of the unlocked V600 selling on Ebay just cost $300 and no tax. With T-Mobile's offer ($269+Tax).....I end up paying the same compare to Ebay. And Remember, I don't need to sign a new one year contract with T-Mobile if I buy my V600 on E...

Yeah , I'm going to port my number to Virgin mobile pay as you go, then in 3 or 4 months, maybe the V620 will be out, or the V600 will be free after rebates on Amazon by then.... and then just port my number back. I really like T-mobile, but I'm willing to play the game. I will be going to Asia in 2 months, so i will use my V60g there and have it unlocked while I'm there too. 😁

my favorite part about people complaining about phone prices is that they think the carrier doesn't pay anything for a phone. whomever started the whole super cheap cell phone game with all the cash back and crap like that I would love to Kick him square in the junk. What an idiot. If that game would have never been started then we wouldn't have to sit around every day listening to people complain about the prices of phones!

I agree with you 100%, and i said i do not expect to get the phone for free.
I have full filled my 1 year contract, and this October i will complete my second year at month to month, but they still want $349 for the V600 phone, $100.00 more than the "New Customer" (now that they offer a $50 rebate on T-mobile web site, making your cost $249.00). So do you not see that it is a little unfair to person that has stayed with the carrier?

If you lease cars, retuning customers get a little deal, buy a new car get a rebate, if your a frequent flyer you get a little deal through miles programs... etc. Now i guess all companies could remove these customer loyalty programs, but chances are they will not, they have become part of the business mode...
