T-Mobile phone won't auto update time for DST...

Hi, I've got a Moto Razr purcahsed through T-mobile and so does my wife... Here phone has auto updated for DST today and set ahead one hour. My phone has however not. Auto Update is on, I did check. I can set it myself, but it's kind of annoying that it's not working.

I tried calling 611 and it even tells me the correct time, but the phone still displays an hour behind. Also, her phone is about a minute ahead of mine... Does T-Mobile have some OTA programming number like VZW does for instances like these where it resyncs to the towers? Thanks in advance.

My T809 when set on the auto update did update for DST. I'm not sure exactly if it's T-Mo's problem, your tower or your phone.

Good Luck

It's what most of the US including your state's north east corner observes twice a year. 😛

Technically *once* a year from the first Sunday in April to the last Sunday in October. The dates will change in 2007.

That's what he said! The dates will change to make the DST period longer.

Right now it's the first Sunday in April to the last Sunday in October

Starting in 2007, it will be observed from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November. This will add about a month to daylight saving time.

Exactly that is precisely what was said.

Technically though DST is still observed 1x a year whether or not the time period is extended. You adjust your clocks 2x a year.

First of all it's daylight saving (no s.) In 2007 Daylight Saving Time is supposed to change to second Sunday in March to first Sunday in November.

They're the little balls that develope on your sweaters!

Actually, NITZ is an acronym that stands for Network Initiated Time Zone aka automatic time update. It's part of the GSM spec that isn't always enabled. I've found that most European operators don't use it. It's also handset dependant. Nokia's from the last 4 or 5 years have it. Moto has it for recent handsets. Last I knew Samsung didn't support it, but that may have changed.

The time on the phone can be updated by the tower but it also needs to be powercycled and try turning the auto update off and then back on.. We got tons of calls about this yesterday and every call was fixed with a powercycle...

Wow... I had the same problem. I didn't even think about powercycling the phone but that fixed it. I knew I would one day regret moving away from Windows. 😉
