Can someone clarify the real reason why?????

I have been wondering for the longest time why T-Mobile has had such a poor selection of handsets. How long can they promote the crappy Nokia 6010? Their is no comparing T-Mobiles phone selection to the other carriers. Lets be honest, they all wipe us on the mat in this area. Is their a reason why T-Mobile is so passive when it comes to this? They have made little effort (until now but still a way to go) Its obvious that next to service plans the next most important thing to a customer is handset choice. They have done a less than satisfactory job in this department in recent years. Yes, within the last 2 months they are making a better effort with the release of the PEBL and T809. Why do they insist on only staying with Motorola, Nokia and...

Ditto, something I just wrote about yesterday. I meanm cmon, how many friggin versions of the SIDEKICK do we really need? Its time TM started gearing products towards professionals as well as kids, not just kids. Their R/D team needs to step up to the plate and keep up with other carriers........

Because that is what makes threads more enticing to read. You want to know what is inside. If this isnt the case then maybe you should read some more posts. It is all part of the posting phenomenon.

man people are thick here with responses like this. They just dont understand that we pay for a service and we expect to get results. WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO GO BUY AN UNLOCKED PHONE because the selection is poor. That is what someone who just gives up would do. You must be a teenager. That actually explains your response.

Maybe you should sign up with Sprint. They'll tell you just exactly what you can or can't have!

I agree. People are mean on this forum. Lately T-Mobile's forum has had a lot of jerks posting on here. To all of the mean posters on here you can go F yourselves you selfish Bastardos!

And you must be a grouchy old man judging by your response.

Anyway, I know a good many adults who have purchased unlock handsets to use with T-Mobile. That is the beauty of GSM. It gives you the freedom to choose just about any phone you want. And not a single phone being offered by a U.S. carrier is a cutting edge phone. It's all old news by the standards overseas....

For the next year or so, it will seem T-Mo handset selection is sub-par (of course, as its looked for the past however long). BUT, when you have sub-par calling plans (much cheaper than anyone else out there), sub-par network (no sense in buying into phones that can display football games when the network can't support it), and sub-par contracts (still only takes a year, not two) what is there to expect? I see them exceeding most people's expectations in the next few years with phone selection...

that is the most ridiculous explanation I have heard. The only thing I agree with that you said is the phones are sub-par which was the original purpose of this post. Are you kidding that the calling plans are sub-par? They are the most competitive out there. Nobody offers the minutes for the price that T-mobile does. Dont even go there with the service being poor in the boonies. That is a weak argument and we all know about it but not enough for you to post something silly like that. I have no clue what you mean by sub-par contracts. All contracts are the same either 1 or 2 year and T-Mobile offers both so get your facts correct before saying anything please. So in answer to your silly post - their is plenty more to expect than what we have...

Read the post again... I agreed and explained why... T-Mo has the lowest plans, smallest network (capacity/coverage/otherwise), and the option of having one year contratcs vs two... It was all their...

To better help:

Why have a huge phone selection when the return for low calling plans is not helping the bottom line.

Coverage/capacity: The netowrk doesn't support squat so why have phones with bells/whistles.

Subsidies: One year contract, why give poeple the farm when you're making pennies in return!

Think before you ask the question to begin with, genious... You have problems with their phone selection? Funny, I don't. Stop making short-sighted COMPARISONs to other wireless providers selections...

You should be more clear when your trying to make a point brainiac. Get your damn facts straight. I am sick of people who think they know what they are talking about but dont know a damn thing. The network supports way more than you give it credit for do the research before opening your mouth- shame on you. Yes it is still weaker than the other carriers but it isnt on life support for petes sake. If they had a better phone selection - maybe they would gain a larger customer base, ever think of that or is that above your capacity??? Brain power is sure low here....

No, the network doesn't support way more than you give it credit for (whole lot of power in that Sidekick)... Maybe in your region... T-Mo's a voice carrier, maybe after the next set of auctions they'll end up with something more (spectrum) besides roaming agreements with Cingy...

A network way weaker than Cingys which is obviously whom you are comparing phone selections to. Maybe when they are equal, the phone selection will be better... I personally have nothing against their phone selection. It's great for what they offer.... I bet they think so too or they would've adopted your philosophy...

I've heard where customers of other providers (Sprint, Verizon...) are complaining that their carrier's selection of phones does not compare to T-Mobile's wonderful selection... Which is it?

I have worked with Alltel, Sprint, US Cellular, Cellular One, Nextel, and TMobile over the last four years and all the while have been a Sprint customer. I now work with an exclusive TMobile dealer. To set the record straight, we do not have several models of SideKick, there is the SideKick I and now the SideKick II, and yes, they do not use the 850 mhz band like all the other phones. We have a great lineup of phones. I am breaking my contract with Sprint and taking a Samsung T809 because the phone is great! Our Blackberry products are unbelievable! If you a business tycoon, it is the way to go. Check out the Motorola V360. It has a built in MP3 player and removable memory. This phone has everything! Compare that to...

T-Mobile's phone lineup is right in line with what customers are gonna use the mosts. More than 3/4 the people I talk to would rather have a phone that just works rather than a phone that can take a 2 Megapixel picture, or access data through a Nationwide Wireless Network, especially after you let them know the cost of it. Please go shop other carriers and find best match for ya. I'm sure you'll see how T-Mobile stacks up to competition.

I have news for you...Sony Ericsson and LG are terrible. I don't see you're point either...T-Mobile has the same brands as Cingular with the exception of the Sony and LG, and they are crap so not loss. Verizon has Kyoceria and Audiovox which are not great. I mean T-mobile has Samsung, Motorola, and Nokia which if I'm not mistaken are the big three as far as phone companies go.

Hmmm. I have had two Verizon LG Phones (still have them both actually the VX7000 and VX8100) and they are the two best phones I have ever had.

I believe LG is also now the #2 phone manufacturer and the #1 CDMA phone manufacturer.

From the article "In addition to rising to the number two position in mobile phone shipments in the U.S., LG gained the number one ranking in terms of sales of CDMA phones globally for the third quarter of 2005."

Mobile phone shipments and sales don't mean a lot to me. A phone can SEEM fantastic and get a lot of sales...but it doesn't mean it's a
