😳 Hey all, What gives with the pricing on phone upgrades? Especially since now their are no rebates available? Did they all of a sudden do away with the same as new pricing for pretty much every phone? Damn this totally sucks!! If I have to spend a heaping load just for a damn cell phone, then the hell with this! This is nothing more than an act of obnoxoiusness! 😡

What I'm talking about is THE PRICING to upgrade from my current phone to any newer phone. I am particularly miffed over the fact that they do not offer rebates for those who are upgrading, atleast the my T-Mobile site doesn't. I logged into my account over http://www.t-mobile.com by clicking on My T-Mobile and logging in. I then click on Phones and Accessories followed by clicking on Upgrade Your Phone. At the next screen, click on the View Phones button link at the bottom. When I look at the phones, the pricing is straight pricing and no rebates involved. The only thing that is there in addition is the difference in 1 and 2 year pricing....it's quasi Cingular like which sucks!

I've been on a Family Plan over 11 months @ $69.99/month. Hence, I am eligible to upgrade and was able to navigate through as I described earlier. It still doesn't solve the issue my friend.

Did you up your minutes (800 to a 1000)or is it the same when you started? If you upped then you lost the upgrade.

That's a bunch of bullhockey! Changing your rp doesn't do anything to your upgrade eligibility.

When I bought my 6101, it was $169.99, no rebates. When I dumped it in the toilet and went to buy another one, the price was $229. So, even though there hadn't been a rebate on teh phone, the FULL price was knocked off a bit. So, just because there's no ADDITIONAL rebate doesn't mean you're paying the FULL price of the phone.

Whats stupid for Tmobile is that here in California you could just walk into a Target store and purchase a nokia 6101 tmobile prepaid for something like $125 + tax and put in your sim.

Tmobile is the dumbest carrier for allowing walmart and target to have phones available lower than what independent stores purchase them for on a wholesale basis.

T-Mobile can not control how much an indirect dealer charges for equipment. They set their own pricing. Just like if you activate service through them and then cancel outside of Buyer's Remorse, not only woudl T-Mobile charge you a cancellation fee but so will the indirect dealer and their cancellation fee is usually higher.

In order to qualify for the max discount you have to complete 11 months without a phone purchase and be on a rate plan 39.99 or higher (69.99 for family plans.)

If you did you probably lost the upgrade. It states that you must be on the same plan for 11 months, not price.

Actually, I believe this is incorrect. I have heard many people say (and correct me if I'm wrong), that the upgrade cycle is different and you can change plans as long you are on at least $40 individual or $70 family plan, you will still be eligible for an upgrade.

Sorry, I should of clearify what I said. I use ICAM to check eligiablity and often if the customer changed thier plan (single or family). It usually says no. What I do is call CC and most of the time they reverse it, if the customer goes through CC.

Just because ICAM says that the customer is not eligible for the upgrade doesn't mean that they are not eligible. It only means that T-Mobile will not pay indirect dealers a commission on the customers upgrade. the customer can still get the upgrade through Cust. Care or through mytmobile.com as long as they have completed at least 11 months on a rate plan of 39.99 or above and 69.99 or above for a family plan. It does not matter whether they extend their contract a million times. The upgrade program is separate

On a side note even though the phone prices through Cust. Care may not be the same as in store prices for new customers, upgrades don't pay activation fees and therefore usually pay less for their phones

Ever since tmobile started with 2 year contracts it no longer matters what plan your on. Doesn't matter if you changed your plan or how many times it was changed. Rate plans are no longer a factor with when you can upgrade.

What does matter is you need to have 11 months of ACTIVE service. ACTIVE. meaning if you have been suspended for non-pay or ladex (can recieve calls but outgoing goes to 611) that counts against you. It takes away 1 month of eligibility.

More than likely this is why you dont have any rebates. If you have not had 11 months of active service you are not eligible for a rebate.

What also may affect you is if you have changed your mobile # for some reason it resets your eligiblity. No one knows why it does this...

Your upgrade eligiblity is reset when you change your mobile# because the system only reads how long you've been active on a particular subscriber.
