Has anyone heard the same news?? The rumors I'm hearing are that HP is out and HTC is in for TMo now.
Why do they drag the launch of the good stuff out so long!?!
...
From what I understand, HP really pissed off the development folks with the ipaq and that company's unwillingness to stand behind their product, so I've heard from a number of sources we won't be carrying any more HP products, and there's a good possibility of HTC coming back into play.

They didn't drag the launch of the HP6315 for too long. I thought it was rather fast but you see what happened. I thought HP would have done a much better job, or atleast pomptly resolved issues with the device. This was the first device that could have led HP to corner the US market instead HP took a step back. 😢

Why would T-Mobile launch the HTC universal (MDA IV, PRO) when they dont have any 3g service deployed or even close? I can understand the HTC Wizard because it has EDGE.
Trust me I would love to see the HTC universal from T-Mobile US but it doesnt make any sense.

From what I've heard, an agreement with a 3G company is in the works and 3G will be here in a matter of a couple of months!
Now does the Universal make sense to you??
...
If thats the case that would be astonishing; To go from facing a $6-8 billion bill for the 3g network build out that wasnt expected to be complete till 2007...to having it complete in 2 months with an agreement, is quiet a move. I guess its got to be Cingular since they are the only carrier with nationwide GSM coverage. Call me a pessimest but why on earth would Cingular give T-Mobile access to their 3g network.
Dont get me wrong, I like T-Mobile and if indeed all this takes place in the next 2-3 months, I am looking forward to using this 3g service. Btw, I'm a current T-Mobile subscriber.

I'll have to find the thread where I read it, but Cingular doesn't own the newtwork, they just want to expand I guess so they're offering the same service to T-Mobile.

Ok..... the only nationwide carrier to deploy UTMS technology to date was the old ATT wireless, which has been purchased by cingular. It was launched in very few markets and cingular is in the preliminary stages of overlaying new markets. Cingular is not going to let tmobile in on this as they have clearly been distancing themselves from tmobile in the last few years, especially since the buyout when they revoked several roaming agreements. I would like to know what you've seen or heard that indicates otherwise. Or just some of the crack you've been smokin...either way.

The days of me being a streetwalking crackwhore have long since passed!!
I can't remember where I read about the 3G, but I'll try to find it and post it here.
I'm not waiting anyway.....I'm headed to Cingular soon. I think they're are more than a few of us bailing out.

T-Mobile has to bid for wireless spectrum in 2007, and if they win, they will be able to launch UMTS and HSPDA service that will be able to support video calling, live streaming video and other 3G services. Plus, they don't have the 3G network right now, since they don't have enough money for it. Until then, they can't support any 3G services.

Edge is not 3G, Tmobile has some Edge
...
Its "2.5g". My comment on the HTC Wizard was related to what type of HTC phone might be offered by T-Mobile not that the wizard is 3g.
