Memoir or G1 or New Sidekick

I was just about to switch to At&T because TMobile customer service pissed me off....a long story that will raise my blood pressure if I talk about it more...when I was told about the unlimited plan. I was sucked into the great plan and now I figure I will stay and "forgive" Tmobile for now.
Question is, I have had my old phone for over 2 years and it's about ready to implode.
I've been checking this site and I've narrowed it down to the top three phones.

This is what I really am looking for in a phone;

Size, PHONE RECEPTION and durability.

Phone reception is the most important thing to me.
Honestly, I work at a computer so I have internet via my laptop any time of the day so it's not that important to me.
I know that it's ...

If you don't plan on getting internet, don't get the G1 or Sidekick. If web browsing is your most important thing go G1. If email is, go Blackberry (by a mile). If its texting, IMing, go Sidekick.

smylax;
I noted that you didn't recommend the Memoir..is this phone bad?

Do you know which of the phones has the best reception?

Eventually, I may get internet, just for now I don't care for it. Since I'm gonna have this phone for the next 2 years at least, I want to leave this option open but it's not the most important thing for me.

No, I just forgot about it 🙂
The Memoir is a very nice phone. I recommend it for anyone who takes a lot of pictures, because they are very very good with the Memoir. And hands down it records the best video on any device. Its all touch screen, and is much more responsive than the Behold. When it comes to typing on a touchscreen, this is entirely personal preference. I would try it out to see if you like it before you buy it. I personally do a lot of messaging and prefer a physical keyboard. However, I do have camera envy on my G1 towards the Memoir, because the G1 has a very, VERY basic camera, despite its 3 MP rating.
As far as reception goes, they are all good. I have had very good reception with my G1. The Blackberry Curve especially...

Okay, I went to a tmobile center today and I found the following;
1)Memoir; very nice visually. camera takes great pictures but it's very slow. the zoom left me not liking the phone at all. the touch screen was the best out of the ones I touched and the screen was very nice. The camera killed this phone for me...but still nice.

2)G1; nice looks. I like the way it opens up and I really like the feel of the Qwerty keyboard. The one thing that I really didn't like was the touch screen. (please someone tell me that I was wrong) I found the touch screen to be very unresponsive. I don't have big hands, but I had to push down on the button a lot to get it to respond...maybe a software update fixed this, but for now I didn't like it.

Sounds like the G1 on display needs to be wiped. Probably some poorly written apps are bogging it down. You shouldn't have to apply ANY pressure, pushing down on the G1s touch screen does nothing because its capacative touch, not resistive. And from the sound of it, the store you went to either A)isn't a corporate store, or B) recently had their Sidekicks stolen. My reasoning for this is that in a corporate store, like where I work, we have live phones for ALL of our models. Yes, the Sidekick is marketed towards a younger audience, mostly teens and 20s, who primarily use their phone for messaging. Its too bad that you didn't get to use a live one, its messaging interface is the best of any device. It is large (esp the LX) but it has to be. I...

Smylax;
Thanks for the clarification on things.
1) Yes it's a corporate store, been there forever, yes customer service there is very lacking but it's the closest one to where I live.
2) Been reading about the G1's and it's probably being bogged down like you said, since I did note a bunch of stuff on at the time I was testing it. I like this phone.
3)The memoir does take great photo's, that wasn't what drove me off. It was the slow camera that turned me off. The lens would take forever to zoom in and out...but YES, THE PICS WERE VERY NICE. The screen was very nice as well, very responsive..more so than the G1.
4) Yes, unfortunately, they did not have a working sidekick in the store and neither did they seem to want to push it. The...

Do mean the Blackberry 8900, cuz T-Mobile doesn't have the Bold. They have the same processor, the Bold is larger but the 8900 has a higher res screen. The Bold is 3G as well, while the 8900 is not. As far as MMS goes with Blackberry it works no problemo, you don't have to do it as an email attachment. The only phone I currently know of where you have to do that is the iPhone.

Smylax;
Yeah, sorry, it's the 8900...not the bold...they both look the same to me.

My sister in law who has the older model Pearl through At&T told me that photos come out distorted on the Blackberries and you cannot receive picture messages on it as well. She told me that she had to get the data plan at AT&T and then she had to sign in on a online email account to access these photo text messages. I have an older model Samsung T809 but I pay for the $4.99 msg plan and I get my photo messages without having to log on anywhere. Yes, I also read that the 8900 does not have 3G, and though I won't be getting internet right away, it's always an option in the future.
Anyway, thanks for all the info...at the moment, I'm not impressed with a...

You don't need the data plan to receive MMS on T-Mobile's blackberries. If you don't get the data plan, just make sure you add the "blackberry voice addon". Its a free feature that enable MMS on blackberries that don't have the data plan.

WoW!!!
Thanks Smylax. I'm pretty sold on this phone and thanks for the advice about the bb voice addon...I was worried that I had to get the data plan just to get messages. I'll probably get the phone without the data plan for now, I figure I can always add it on later....great site with helpful posters!!!

I am also strongly considering the 8900, but am waiting for the new Google phone to see what's that like.

I currently have the BB-Pearl-Flip which does get MMS pics through text, but it has a smaller screen and slower processor. So even though the 8900 is not 3G, I've been told they have sped-up the processor a bit compared to previous BB models...such as the Pearl-flip, which I have.

Good luck with your choice! And thanks again to Smylax! Wish all reps were as versed in their products!! 🙂

Freediver...just want to say "shop around" for another T-Mobile store, and make sure it's a corporate store as Smylax has stated. I go to a store here in the Bay Area of CA, and all the reps in there are "stellar"!! I have even sent a letter to their manager stating how pleased I have been with the knowledge and level of customer service I have received at this particular store. This store also happens to be in a business district, so that may have something to do with it as well.
