T-mobile or Att&T

verizontired26

Jul 11, 2008, 6:11 PM
I currently have Verizon but I wanna switch to T-mobile or ATT&T, which one is better.

I live in soth florida

T-Mobile seems to have attractive prices, and decent phones, and ATT&T have good phones and rollover minutes.

Which one should I get?

I heard mixed things about them (T-mobile service), and AT&T (roaming and unfriendly customer service)

I switched to T-mobile from Verizon and am very happy. I save on average $10 a month on my bill since T-mobile doesn't have crazy surcharges like Verizon.

I would highly recommend the myfave 5 plan. Just add the 5 numbers that you call the most and you are set. None of the 5 numbers will count towards your monthly minutes. I am not sure how many people you talk to on a regular basis that require a long time.

T-mobile customer service is outstanding. They are friendly and truly value customers.

Yes, T-mobile doesn't have the coolest phones as ATT but I would never change that for poor customer service that ATT have.

i really like GSM network and the sim cards only at&t and t-mobile have them. i heard stuff bout at&t but never believed, now i do!! at&t yes, they do have really cool phones, but there customer service is TERRIBLE!! i been through hell and back with at&T, cingular whatever you want to call it. i get charges out of nowhere. and they rip you off on price plans too. I switch to t-mobile and i am really SATISFIED!!! i have the same services like i did before and pay $40 less. the customer service is awesome!! they were really helpful and know what they are doing. my bill is always the same and no charges i didnt make. i would have to agree with carlsberg, i would rather have much better customer service and price plan than cool phones and bad c...

Read the forums on ATT vs TMobiles... That should make a load of a difference... I have Tmobile and I'm totally happy with them!!! Had them sense 2005... They have the best customer care... If you drop a call or do not have service for technical reason's... They give you a load of bonus minutes... Sometimes I tell them I don't have service if I'm running low on minutes to get extra.... ***I know it's wrong but it feels so good***

if you're able to get reception you need, T-Mobile is for you
here in NYC, T-Mobile HSDPA (3.5g) is a lot better than ATT (faster and less dropped connection)

Since T Mobile bought out Suncom I am glad to have a choice in Carriers here in SC.
I use the N95 and I'm hearing T Mobile has no 850 band and worse the N95 is set up for ATT 3G. T Mobile may not even have 3G capability and if it does it will be on a different band?>

I though all GSM carriers can use the full futures of the same phones. I guess it's ATT for life. Not that thats bad. I like ATT despite the limitations of the GSM network in general.

T-Mobile doesn't hold enough PCS spectrum to release 3G or in the 850 band(they hold an 850 license for Myrtle Beach, SC). That was why they did a lot of bidding in the AWS auction. I still think they were stupid to not bid in the 700 band auction, as they could have added capacity to some markets. Instead, they let AT&T & Verizon get the bulk of those licenses.

Go with T-Mobile. I've had AT&T, Verizon, and Alltel, and I can honestly say that I'm a much happier customer with T-Mobile. For simply having an issue with my myFaves not changing for 2 days on ONE bill cycle, T-Mobile offered me 75 Bonus Minutes per month for THREE months. I turned down the offer since I know glitches happen in this industry and I'm not after free crap, but it just goes to show you that they actually care, whereas I felt just like another "statistic" with AT&T. T-Mobile rocks! 🙂

The New ATnT Wireless

T-Mobile:

Pros: lower prices on calling plans and text messaging packages. Signal in my large city was decent. Customer service very very very helpful. Phones, they were fairly decent when I had them, nice selection for being a no. 4 carrier.

Cons: If you like to travel, signal can be an issue, though not so much anymore with all those roaming agreements. But when I first had them in 2003 they had very few splotches on the map for their coverage. Phone selections now are so-so. But that's just me. They got rid of Catherine Zeta Jones, who is the best spokeswoman anyone could ever ask for!!!

AT&T Wireless:

Pros: Large coverage map, and even with the most basic 450/mo. plan, you get a lot of minutes. And there's rollover...

I have Tmobile and love them. I just signed up for thier Tmobile @ Home service. Basically Vonage for $10 a month. That is with my family plan with 2 phones. I had Verizon before them, and US Cellular before that. I left both of them as soon as my contract was up, but I have stuck with Tmobile for 5 years now and am totally satisfied.

I almost go to att
but thanks to iPhone 3G, which crushes att 3G network, that prevents me to move
btw, T-Mobile 3G works rather well, and fast like DSL with HSDPA

You dont use your home phone jacks with @home. They have a router, called the HiPort that has 2 phone jacks on it. you use your main landline phone with that and then you have multiple "satillite" phone around the house, without plugging them into a phone jack.

I have the service myself, and it works amazingly; super clear calls, easy to use, and saves me about 50 bucks a month.

well i have 4 bedroom with all phones. and i want all the bedrooms to have phones. how does that work if there are only 2 on the hiport?? and what are satalite phones? sorry not really techy lol.

satallite phones are other phones that run off the base station. they do not need a wall jack to get a dail tone, just a wall charger. They sell a Vtech phone, that comes with the base station and one satallite. you can purchase more satallite phones and put them anywhere in your house, as long as you can plug them in to keep them charged.

If you have wall jacks in your house, simply connect the hiport to one of the wall jack. Then connect all regular phones to the wall jacks.
But be sure to disconnect the connection of the outside box(forgot the technical name for it) that connect to your old land line companies.

I currently have AT&T, and love it. I live in the Eastern TN area, and T-Mobile sucks here, they only get service when in large cities. Well I have an aunt who lives in Florida, and she has T-Mobile. She gets great service there, but once she leaves the state that when it gets real Spotty. So it depends, on whether or not you travel a lot. I travel alot, actually just got back from Florida, I got great service there with AT&T(3g and full service in most places). In June we all took a trip to NC, and there I had pretty good service(ranging 2 and 3 bars in most places) while my aunt(with T-Mobile) had no service or was roaming. So it really depends, if you travel alot I'd go with AT&T, but it not, T-Mobile is great in FL.

actually i had at&t (cingular) before i switched with T-mobile.. that was like 6 months ago not that long, but i get signal every where i go no matter what. florida and even tennesee area too with t-mobile, so i dont really know what your talking about... im a truck driver. there are some spots in the rural area that are spotty, but i still get good signal. with at&t i get signal too, but my calls were really statically and i get LOTS of dropped calls. and there 3G has barely coverage. oh well, i guess we differ. I love t-mobile and they rock!

I agree with you totally. AT&T has much more coverage. I use TMobile for my home service but that is about it. Here in TX, they are the 4th carrier and there is a reason for that. But on the bright side you do get more minutes but as far as coverage, AT LEAST HERE IN TEXAS, they are lacking what AT&T and VZ offer. He probably should do the 30 day trial and have his own experience though.

Well AT&T voluntarily gave over it's users information to the NSA. Plus they did it in secret without notifying the users.
That's why I cancelled my account with them & went to T-Mobile. (of course, now I'm cranky at T-Mobile for lying about my qualifying for a rebate, but that's a much lesser problem that aiding in warrantless wiretapping!)

If you dicide to go with T-mo, be sure to get a phone with UMA feature. That way your phone can connect either by cellular or Wi-Fi(internet), very useful when you are in a area with weak cellular signal but decent Wi-Fi.
And, AT$T does not have it.
Also, T-mo will unlock your phone after 90 days into the contract. AT$T won't do that. An unlocked phone allows you to use any non-T-mo SIM cards. Very useful when you are traveling abroad.

Thanks everybody for your repplies!,

turns out that my contract with Verizon wont be up until October, so I still have a couple of months to make this decision.

I really want ot go with T-mobile but it worries me having dropped calls, and issues with service. So I am not sure.

ATT on the other hand seems to have great phones, and better coverage.

Is a tough call...... 😕

i know people always say they are concered by t-mobiles network and call quality compared to AT&T but if you look at this

http://www.jdpower.com/telecom/ratings/wireless-call ... »

consumers consistanly rate T-mobile better than AT&T.

obviously individual experiances do differ but thats why there is a trial period and with t-mobile you can use

http://www.t-mobile.com/coverage/pcc.aspx »

corporate dealers and customer care uses the same map as the one on the website to check coverage
