Unlocking the iPhone
I have been doing my fair share of research on unlocking the iPhone and it certainly looks possible. Have a few question though... First, (may be a subjective opinion) which is the best way? I have looked into iphonesimfree.com and that seems to have the most backbone to me. Second, I have T-Mobile, so if I got the Total Internet Add-On could I use Safari, maps, weather, etc? Third, do I need version 1.1.1? Thanks for your answers in advance...

Both me and my friend have iPhones with T-Mobile. Unless you want to physically open the iPhone to do the unlock I would not buy one though Apple. Any iPhone purchased after November 2007 will have the new bootloader which kills any current unlock. Make sure you get a iPhone with a serial number of xxx44xxxxxx and under. I personally like AnySim for the iPhone but they both work equally as well. There are hacks once you get them unlocked and jailbroken which allow you to use all the applications and t-mobile internet, as well as switch the carrier logo. The best part IMO is that me and my friend are using the 5.99 T-Zone internet becuase it forces the iPhone to use port 9021 for internet. 🙂 Cheap unlimited internet, its great! You don't nec...

I'm just gonna wait for a CDMA iPhone, or for the iPhone Gen 1 price to drop with iPhone 2. I need to save for a new Gibson guitar.
