As with ALL T-Mobile phone that use a chat program like AIM , Yahoo and MSN it does NOT require any kinda of data plan to use.

every message sent or received is sent just like a text message using the SMS service over the t-mobile network. you are billed like a text message for every one sent or received.

so you may want to get a SMS bundle but it is not required to use the chat programs.

how about using skype to do voice chat..??

i am using blackberry with a data plan.. so messages don't go as sms... what ever i send as send and receive are thru the data plan...

can shadow do the same.. if it goes thru the internet, then i don;t need sms package plus i can do voice chat as well.. hence it becomes convenient...

blackberry is costly with 20$ data plan but with 5.99 on shadow, it'll be cheaper

The blackberry plan does NOT send SMS over the internet ( non of the data plans do ) it just comes bundled with the unlimited internet feature and an unlimited SMS feature, it is still sending SMS just like any other T-Mobile phone.

So even if you do get the 5.99 internet package with the Shadow you would still need to have a SMS feature as well.

you can get unlimited messages with the 4.99 for 400 messages. what you have to do is keep track of your message use, when you get close to the 400 you have to go online and remove the 4.99 feature, then re-add it. then you get your bill you will see multiple pro-rated charges for all the diffrent 4.99 features you had, but the total for them all will still only be 4.99 , and you get a new buc...

The whole point of this thread was to ask if there was a cheaper feature to use.

Why pay $5.99 for t-zones + $14.99 for unlimited SMS = $20.98 when the blackberry plan is $20.00 already.

Without cheating the SMS feature you end up paying $0.98 MORE than the blackberry plan for the same features.

Its not that hard to check your messages by dialing #674# on your phone, then spending 2 min online to change the feature, you could even do it from your phone.

So it does take a little effort to save some money, or we could all just ask Adam for an extra $14.00 every month. I mean it isn't that much right Adam.

Dude if you can't afford to pay for features you want on your phone without cheating the system, maybe you don't have any business using them? Hmmm now that seems an intelligent decision doesn't it?

NO!

It sounds like a dumb idea to pay more for the exact same thing.

If your not smart enough to figure out a way to get the same service for a lower price then you deserve to have to pay more than the people who can figure out how to get a better deal in life.

" a penny saved is a penny earned " - Benjamin Franklin

Sounds pretty smart to me.

Right until you mess up then who are you gonna blame for going over? T-Mobile. And don't quote Benjamin Franklin, he certainly was not talking about cheating the system. And it's not a matter of "figuring it out", of course I could have done that, it's not hard to cheat the system in the wireless industry. If this is what you gotta do, so be it, but at least admit that you are being dishonest.

Of course it would be your own fault if you get overage. But if you are to lazy or absent minded to remember to check how many messages you have left then don't use the cheat. I already explained exactly how to do it and even how to check your amount of messages from the phone.

And the point of the quote was not to say Benjamin Franklin was promoting cheating the system, it was to make the point that saving any amount of money is a good idea.

And I know full well its dishonest, I never once said it wasn't. But thats the nature of loopholes in the system, if they are there someone is going to exploit them. I am not forcing anyone to do it, just telling them how.
