WHY ARE TMOBILE PHONES SO CRAPPY?

MissSLM07

I USE TO BE TMO CUSTOMER. I WAS WITH THEM FOR A YEAR. I LOVE THE GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE PLANS BUT THE PHONES SUCK! THE FIRST PHONE I HAD WAS A MAGENTA MOTO RAZR AND THE SECOND PHONE WAS A SAMSUNG...I CANT REMEMBER THE MODEL NUMBER. THEIR PHONES DON'T HAVE THE BEST FEATURES. RIGHT NOW THE ONLY PHONE I WOULD EVEN CONSIDER IF I WENT BACK TO TMO WOULD BE THE WING. TMO NEEDS FEATURED PACKED HANDSETS LIKE ATT.

1. The Wing is an excellent choice
2. Have you thouroughly scoped at&t's phones? Let's not really go there!

I have both services. T-Mobile is Clearly better than at&t. I've lost less calls with T-mobile, and there are way les...

IM NOT TALKING ABOUT THE ATT NETWORK. IM AWARE THAT THEIR NETWORK SUCKS. MY BFF HAS ATT AND SHE COMPLAINS ABOUT THE DROPPED CALLS ALL THE TIME. IM TALKING ABOUT HANDSETS. TMO HAS GREAT COVERAGE IN MY AREA AND I NEVER HAD A DROPPED CALL WHEN I HAD THEIR SERVICE BUT I DON'T THINK THEY HAVE A GREAT SELECTION OF PHONES. JUST MY PERSONAL OPINION. 🙂

What about the Dash, Pearl, 8700, Upcoming Curve, RIZR, 6086, Blast? All of these are great devices!! I understand your thought process, but to say the selection is poor is simply wrong. Also the devices coming out in the next 3 months are greaat too!

you don't have to type ALL CAPS, it sounds like you're yelling at somebody
I guess the reason why is 3G (including AWS license)
T-Mobile did a lot of things to save money for 3G rollout, that the buying power is reduced
everything is changing over time
by the time the initial 3G rollout, some nice phone are coming out (V8, bb 8320, nokia 6267)
we can expect more nice 3G phones will come out in early-mid 2008 (including N/E series and SonyEricsson phones)

Buy a phone through tmobile with the highest resale value, get your contract, and sell it on ebay and put your money towards an unlocked phone.

T-Mobile even makes it easy to setup your phone without calling them:

Ok first of all you need to realize TMobile does not build and manufacture these phones. They purchase them from Motorola, Samsung, Nokia, Sharp, Research in Motion and HTC. So Its not TMobiles crappy phones its the manufactures crappy phones!!!! Also you had a Moto Razr come on 9 out of 10 people had issues with that phone and just so you know ATT and US cellular also carry that crappy phone. TMobiles phones have great features and they are also way more affordable then your BFF's ATT!!!!! Do your homework before you come on here ranting and ravnig and discrediting a great phone company. Personally I would much rather keep a service with the number one rated customer service for the past 5 years by JD Powers then got to ATT where I had drop...

Okay first of all I love TMO service and I think I mentioned that in my post. My dissatisfaction was with the phones only and I know that TMO doesn't make the phones. TMO is the only cellular company that I have been with and had to replace a phone within the first 6 months of service. That was my complaint. Im not discrediting the company...just didn't like the phones that they had available at the time. Also, when I said ATT phones are better...Im talking about the way they look and features...not their network. Don't be so defensive. Geez! You must work for TMo... 🤨 Anyway have a nice day! 🙂

Actaully I dont work for TMobile. But I had Cingular now ATT and Sprint and have had much better service from TMobile including the with phones. With ATT when I had an issue with my phone and there were 3 other people at the store with the same phone with the same issue all they would do is take my phone for a week and TRY to fix it. At least TMobile will actually send out a new phone and if the problem continues to happen they will offer you a different handset instead of the one you originally purchased. And dont even get me started on sprint. The other issue is most people do not know how to keep their phones in proper working order. Cell phones are just like computers. You have power cycle them to recieve over the air updates to improve...

I think the fact that perhaps a lot of their customers don’t want the higher end devices and obviously since customers don’t T-mobile won’t spend the money to get it, but that will change soon. I think after they roll out their 3G network everyone will see new devices from T-mobile. T-mobile is a carrier in which people care about price points on their plan compared to higher end devices.

Most T-mo custmers came for good service at a good rate. Not the type that will spend $500 for a iphone when they can get by the daily routine with a modest phone. I am using a MDA, not a crapy phone, and I got it for free with new contract. 😁

True. I just feel that TMo can have better looking feature rich phones that are affordable. But as Nextel18 mentioned in his post, when the 3G network rolls out TMo will be getting new devices.

The problem is, if T-mobile’s customers don’t want the high-end phone that are affordable, T-mobile won’t come out with them. Yea that 3G network will definitely bear some fruit and we will see very interesting price points and newer devices coming from them. DT said they are going to keep their T-mobile USA baby so I am sure they will do anything necessary to help grow the company. Obviously the whole market is becoming very saturated but not for them because they can go after niche customers with their price points and customer service. I think they will be stronger in the future, but they have some things to work on first.
