EDGE not working...keeps going to GSM

i have a blackberry pearl.
i have a really bad habit of forgetting to pay my bill ☹️ (retarded on my part), but always pay it immediately once my service gets turned off...which has happened twice.
every time they cut my service off, my phone goes to GSM and will not switch back to EDGE no matter what i do (turn wireless off, take out battery, turn phone off). i have to call tech support everytime! and everytime they tell me i need a network update and it had nothing to do with my service being turned off.

anyone know what the deal is with that?

simple solution. If it is every time you get it turned off PAY YOUR BILL and you won't have to worry any more. There is a thing called recurring payment if you can't remember.

thank you for being so helpful as to answer the QUESTION and not put your TWO SENSE into it. 🤨

Well thank you but you know what excuses are like. Proper planing.

And as for my two sense that is what a public forum is all about. Don't like don't post!

And I won't resort to name calling as it is meaningless!

Maybe it's just a coincidence that you needed that update when your service resumed.

Or maybe the rep just didn't know any better.

Cause we all know that people misread Streamline and give out the wrong information. I had a rep read me what it said word for word and then told me the opposite.

I was like 😳... "thanks for your help".

when your account gets suspended you can still recieve calls and texts messages. your data plan probably gets cut off though until your payment goes through.

Your SIM card might be too old. My sister has a SIM card so old (2002) that it doesnt even say T-Mobile on it. They never send her a new one whenever she upgrades.

That has nothing to do with it either. If her "old" sim card is still working, she doesn't need a new one.

Actually the "old" SIM card only may be an issue in some markets... for example i am in the minneapolis market, pretty much if you have a old SIM card (pre T-Mobile) you would not be able to roam on Cellular One's 850 frequency in northern Wisconsin and northern Minnesota.

But back the blackberry... there have been 2 updates for the phoen itself... i know customers that have had this problem and doing the update resolved the problem. the newest one just launched on the 14th... but DO NOT down load that, 4.2.1.103.. it has been recalled.

check your verison if it is 4.2.0.64 then you do not need to do an update.
