They treat you like gold, and there are some sick rewards programs.....but you get the bottom of the barrel customers sometimes, if the service is good in your area....selling wont be a problem at all.

I worked for Cingular for over 4 years and regret the change.

The sales software is so beneath the level of POS...you cant even do acts and upgrades in one sale - have to ring one up then go back so you keep taking custs money or credit card over and over, the store procedures and duties are retarded...do our own inventory every day, do our own deposit, do our own cleaning, blah blah blah...at cingular we had a janitor, we had a back office person who did deposits and inventory so you clocked in and sold which is what your hired for. I spend half my day cleaning and vacuuming and then doing deposits and inventory after we close.

I had more PTO days at cingular, and made more commission and more per hour. I had cingular rewards that fil...

Oh and let me add, since I just got back rom our quarterly meeting.

Remember Cingulars meetings where you could win phones, prizes such as mini systems, dvd players, gift cards, nice meals and all that?

Ours had hot dogs and they gave away watermelons and 2 liters of Coke. I drove two hours for that???

Thats just your region buddy. I get 40-50 acts a month and Im in the second slowest store in my market. In my regional meeting they gave away bluetooth car kits, top of the line stereo bluetooth headsets, and a few other items that were at LEAST $100. And a coworker won an 8Gb iPod Nano with wireless headphones and a stereo speaker system, easily $400+ worth of products. And Im not going to count how many phones me and my coworkers have won.

So it looks like it depends on which region you are in.

Thats insane,

Ive never seen a phone given away. Sales contests are usually a $5 Macdonalds card, maybe $10.

At the market meeting we won a watermelon in group activities but how were we to even split that between us to take home? LOL not even a whole watermelon per person.

Then if you had a 'lucky' ticket under your chair you won a 2 liter coke at the endof the meeting! Wooo!

Oh and just to add for what I was amused at:

Top sellers, perfect shops, etc awards were handed out at the meeting in what appeared to be nice wooden frames except this one guy. He won top sales for two months in a row so he only got the second months award in a frame, the other was just the slip of paper lol.

Way to go guy! bu we aint giving you a second frame for that awsome work lol.

Wow, no offence, but your market sucks! Hell one weekend my regional manager gave away a SK3 Dwade, anyone who got 4 acts or more got enterend into the contest. 2 of my coworkers have won pearls in market contests....

Im amazed at the sheer difference in the awards and contests.

yeah and from the sound of it you must not be the greatest sales person, no offense, but 20 acts, please tell me your new...t-mobile is great to work for in my market we always have contest where you can get free phones, bluetooths, etc. plus we have contest all the time from each manufacturer of the phones and you can always win stuff, well if you sell enough phones...quit bashing and maybe just step it up in sales and talk with your regional manager and see what you can do about making it a better market, instead of complaining make a change

I have been in Cellular for 6 years now and I know how to sell.

This market is so bad, they have reduced the quota from 40 to 22 last month, 19 this month...and still struggling to get the acts.

As far as talking to regional, we have come up with all sorts of outreach ideas but they always get shot down because the company may need to invest in the event, such as the downtown events the city holds sevral times a year.

Instead, the regional just insists us do the sameold outreach at the flea market each month where nothing happens...but they can mark it down that we did a outreach.

Its just your regional then, the company itself LOVES doing events. My region usually does pretty much every expo my city has, and corporate management loves our events team.

If you are close to another region, try to see if you can get transfered. Or stick through this, because your regional mananger will not last long, and hopefully someone capable will take his place. And if neither of those are possible, to be honest, I would leave if I were in your shoes. A ****ty manager can make a company normaly great to work for suck ass.

Those are the lowest numbers i have ever seen in my life! try hitting at least 80 new lines every month. Not saying its hard all the time but sometimes it is! I am not happy unless i can go for 100 and at least get close or over.

All you've mentioned are sales rep positions. Customer care is a pretty sweet place to be. As well as technical support. There are analyst positions as well as marketing spots open as well. It's worth checking out. Outside of the fact that you're 100% vested with your 401k plan the moment you sign up with t-mobile, you get a 40% discount on two phones right off the bat, some extremely decent rate plans to choose from, and a chance to upgrade your phone every year, after the 3rd year or so you get a free phone every year of your choosing. Then there are the tv giveaways, wii and ps3's are also given out. 1000 dollar gift cards and such. Nice place to work I'd say

I does depend on the region. at least 50% of our reps win something in our quarterly meetings, anywhere from a $10 gift card to a new blackberry. i myself have won an iPod nano, dragon razr (boo), d&g razr, samsung mp3 player, the list goes on... also they pay for all the awesome food they give out. also the meetings are at interesting places i.e. casinos, dave & busters..

as for pay its alright. it was better last year. but it is getting better. rumors are spreading that we might be paid on team commission rater than individual commissions, which has a lot of pros and some cons...

benifits.... AWESOME, cant go into much detail. but awesome.

All these stories of awsome markets and how they come off some cash for morale of the employees really makes me even more angry to be in this market.

Its like Im hearing about two seperate companies, not the same.

I had a friend in another market just tell me today that I shouldnt have had to go buy a bluetooth headset as they all get them free in his market.

Little things do add up.

...which are the same no matter which market you are in, the benefits are awesome!

In addition to good pay, you get great, and cheap, medical/dental/vision coverage of your whole family after only 30 days, and 401k is 100% vested from day one. PTO is given out fairly generously, and rolls over from year to year. T-Mobile will also help pay for your schooling if it helps you advance your career with them (full-time).

These other guys are talking about things that are nice, but at the end of the day, they don't matter as much.

You are also treated like you mean something to the company, just like the customers.

Yes but the things you are referrng to are identical for the most part as Cingular.

I was referring to things that I have noticed as I have worked for both.

The original post was referring to them being at Cingular and wondered if they should jump ship to T-Mo and if they did, what to expect.

I understand what you are saying, and I probably did mention some things that ATT offers as well.

I have, however, heard more than a few stories, at least in my area, that suggest that T-Mobile cares more for their employees as far as from a benefits standpoint.

...and never take for granted working for a company that really cares about their customers, which is something that ATT is definitely lacking.
