Upgrade Advice

Okay, folks. I'm getting my finances straight enough that I can afford to upgrade soon. I'm a heavy text and data user and I'm very interested in smartphones. I'd prefer Windows Mobile, but I really don't want to spend $500 on a phone. (Mmm, Samsung i600...)

I'm currently with T-Mobile, which is why I'm posting to this forum, but I'm willing to entertain the idea of switching. I'm currently looking at either the Sidekick II or the Blackberry 7100. I can get either one of these for $150 after my upgrade rebate, but I'm hoping to save a bit more.

Does anyone know any online stores where I can get one for a cheaper price? All the stores I find only sell phones with new activation.

Well if you did a HS upgrade from customer care the Sidekick II (providing you are meeting max discount requirements) would be around $250. I believe the BB 7100t would be around $200. If you go online to get a better deal you would lose your mobile number and would get charged a $35 act fee.

You won't loose your number, I bought the skII off of amazon and was able to transfer my # to that phone.

In order to keep your number you would have to cancel the newly activated line and put your sim from old phone into new phone but you risk having to pay Amazon more for the phone b/c they would be losing their commission. 🙄
