I have waited for a long time to be month to month and be out of ETF territory.

Cingular has gone downhill in the past couple years and I need to be able to get out. Service here in South Carolina is terrible and I get 3 out of 5 calls dropped continously. Suncom is just as bad. I'm guessing its the GSM thing. What good are all the fun phones and flexible SIM cards if you cannot depend on using the phone reliablyf or it's primary intended purpose.

Verizon will soon be number one again ao it's either them or Sprint if Cingular comtimues to get worse.

Trolling? I'm telling the truth. You Cingy boys have real issues. Cingular is going downhill and will squander their number one customer base due to their greed and union based unhappy employed staff. I am happy to oblidge in making that come to pass.

You really think I am the only one who feels this way. I will bet many have left Cingular this year.
You will see. Cingular will be the troll as well as you when you are trolling for customers and end up with the bottom feeders who cannot pay their bills.

I am not saying anything new because there is NOTHING NEW about Cingular. Same ole. They are losing more customers each quarter and gaining less. Whats new about that? Nothing!

As much as I hate to agree with an obvious troll, I can say that, speaking as a manager of a Cingular agent operating out of South Carolina, coverage in the S. Carolina market is the number one problem we deal with on a daily basis. Cingular has been slow to build towers in non-covered areas, and we have significant portions of the state where people live and travel that are not covered. Suncom in fact is worse than Cingular; their customers are consistently hit with roaming charges. As much as it pains me to say it, Verizon is the gold standard in South Carolina. The question I want an answer to is--what will happen to Verizon coverage when analog service goes away at the end of next year? Do they have plans in place to compensate for ...

I just stated the obvious. I will be switching to Verizon or Alltell as will my future Mrs. Troll switch from the even worse Suncom.

Verizon has great coverage on the coast as people I know with non analog Verizon phones tell me, I do not think the analog turn off will be an issue. Cingular has promised forever to provide more towers and better service, I have no reason to believe that to be factual.

Their net adds are decreasing quarter by quarter and Verizon consistently adds over a million customers. There has to be something real behind those numbers on both sides of the equation.

I have seen verizons new coverage map that will be released 10/23. I have also seen Cingulars coverage map. When comparing the two Verizon still comes out on top. Yes they are going to lose some coverage in very rural areas. Plus if you look at Verizons web site 70% of there phones are digital only. Which has to tell me that over 70% of the new customers that are activating don't even now what they are missing by not having analog and they are still telling there friends and family to switch to verizon.

I don't think you understand analog sunset.

When this occurs, carriers which once provided analog and have switched to digital will then be *allowed* to turn off analog. Nothing requires them to do so and I guarantee it won't happen in areas where it will affect the bottom line.

If you are a blue customer, simply port your number within 30 days of your contract end date. Make sure that the contract end date is in the current bill cycle. For example, your contract end date is on November 2nd. Your bill cycle runs from the 15th of each month to the 16th of the following month. You can now port your number and have the ETF fully credited. You would still be responsible for the charges until the end of the bill cycle but you could call in and have the ETF waived. Now scat! Go do it so we don't have to listen to your bitching anymore!

800K adds is only weak to those who don't understand what the long term goals and current visions of the Company are.

They are not currently focused on net adds. They are focused on profitability and data services. They want to build the merged company into a financially and structurally sound company before they try to compete with Verizon on a net adds level.

..................GSM is still the WORLD standard. And just because you don't understand business 101 enough to know that it is impossible to do a fair comparison of VZW to Cingular right now (due to them being in COMPLETELY different stages of business development) doesn't mean that those of us who DO understand how business works are going to see things your way. Nice try. MBAs are a dime a dozen.

GSM may be the world standard but Cingular is certainly not living up to that standard in the good ole USA.

Data is not as important as a reliable call by any stretch. It has been shown over and over again Cingular has issues with reliability despite your claims. It's become common knowledge.

If Radio Shack was such a EXTREME benefit Verizon would not be dumping them. Business 101.

Verizon does not need to support phones bought outside. Their phones work well and their service is the best according to all reporting agencies measuring those metrics. Smart People buy service not phones. Obviously there are far more smart people then those who want to flash a gimmicky phone.

You are about as dumb as the homeless man that lives in the subway station under my office.

And you are as clueless as a Amish guy in Best Buy.

Radio Shack IS an HUGE benefit to Verizon - to the tune of approximately 500k net adds per quarter.

And thats why Verizon is dropping them like a bad disease?

Verizon doesn't need to support outside phones because they issue good phones??? Right - VZW has thier fair share of phone problems too. They don't support outside phones because that is an easy way to boost revenues.

Verizon's "issues" are not reflected in their bottom line or their reputation. Cingular should thank their lucky stars for that.

Let me refute these claims one by one:

1. Possibly, but your cluelessness makes me look like a genius.
2. Their contract expired and Radio Shack decided to not renew it as it was not profitable enough for them to keep over the Cingular offer. (Info from a Regional Manager of Radio Shack)
3. All Company's issues are reflected in their bottom line - more issues = less customers = less income. Business 101.
4. Cingular SHOULD be at the same rates as VZW as it is CINGULAR that has the larger all digital company owned network. So it isn't all in total customers that you should measure a carrier.
5. Not bankrupt due to quality issues, more like bankrupt due to non-fuel efficient cars. Toyota is the company that drove the knife in w...

Wow. You cant argue with that 🙄 I mean, if he says "Sprint Sucks" you gotta beleive him, right?

Listen, if it really comes down to it and you cant stand Cingular, my recommendation is Sprint. Their network is expanded and will work most places verizon and cingular work. verizon and cingular get the few and far between places that no one covers. But at least sprint can offer something comparable to rollover, fair & flexable. what does verizon have? nothing except fewer services and the same prices as cingular. So i say check either cingular and sprint. and i would assume that tmo is out of the running

No Sprint is out. I do no want another company trying to integrate a foreign technology into the mix. The ATT integration was and is bad enough and they were using the same technology.

Verizon has more then proven itself. Their churn is low and that says it all. People are leaving at two times their rate from the other carriers. They are consistently adding many many more new people.

They have it all together and do best what a phone is supposed to do. Make calls. Everything else is fluff if one cannot make or receive a call when they need to. Cingular is in trouble. I am sure the Unions are ruining another company here.

Airlines, Auto companies, and now Cingular. When will people ever learn?
