Sprint 3rd on list of top 10 companies facing bankruptcy this year.

I don't know why, but I felt the urge to post this on the Sprint Forum.

3. Sprint Nextel

Sprint Nextel is bleeding customers, and could lose as many as 4.4 million net post-paid subscribers this year.

This is a huge problem when you have large amounts of maturing debt over the next few years.

A recent Deutsche Telekom acquisition rumor offered some hope, but that appears to have faded. Facing a difficult road ahead on its own, the company better keep its lawyers on speed-dial.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again. Sprint is like the former ATTWS. In a few years, it will be bought and rebranded, and the Sprint name will die forever.

Your probably right. It will be bought by t-mobile and rebranded as t-mobile and then three years later be rebranded again as sprint mobility.

Sprint Likely To Go It Alone (Updated)

By Eric Savitz

Rumors that Deutsche Telekom (DT) might pursue a bid for Sprint (S) continue to fade.

Earlier in the week, the Telegraph had reported that the German parent of T-Mobile had hired Deutsche Bank to consider a possible bid for Sprint. But analysts have been skeptical about the prospects for a deal, with Thomas Weisel Partners yesterday even downgrading the stock.

This morning, Bernstein Research analyst Craig Moffett added to the fading sentiment on Sprint shares, asserting that “go it alone” remains the most likely strategy scenario for the company. “And unfort...

Who else shares the same technology and network that is compatible and could buy them? Verizon? ATT?

Verizon shares the same base technology: CDMA. Both companies are taking different directions with 4G technology.

Verizon represents the best merger/buyout candidate, but I have a hard time seeing the DoJ approving it due to competitive issues.

T-Mobile would be the most likely to get approved by the DoJ, but I have a hard time seeing them getting approval from parent company Deutsche Telekom AG.

AT&T woudl face the same competitive issues from the DoJ.

Think smaller scale and possibly the other way around. This speculation is from someone who can't read a balance sheet. Yes, Sprint has a lot of debt and continues to lose customers, no, there isn't a cash problem.

Sprint's already buying Virgin Mobile. I don't think it would be a stretch to go toward one or two of the other CDMA value carriers.

the purchase of Virgin Mobile is an shot to plug the hole using a prepaid customer base that leases their network...they were making better money charging VM for the leased network. They should be investing in network expansion, not buying out prepaid service providers...

Sprint's been investing heavily in their network. Right now quality of coverage or customer service for that matter isn't the problem. There is still a huge perception problem at Sprint. There are also still angry customers from the old days just waiting for their contract to expire. If people would just forget about how they've been treated and focus on how they're being treated we probably wouldn't see Sprint bleeding so many customers.

They bought them because some other network was planning to buy them.

VZ would never get anti-trust approval to take over Sprint. It would be too big a monster.

The most likely possibility would be some sort of LEAP/MetroPCS/Sprint-Nextel consolidation. Between the three of them they have a decent bargain-hunter customer base and an acceptable nationwide reach for voice and basic 3G services, not to mention the WiMAX rollout in progress.

Sprint-Nextel failed because they couldn't integrate the business-class iDEN system with the traditional Sprint consumer base, technologically or in their corporate culture. Just look at what's happened to the Nextel brand- it's been relegated to a cheapskate college kid Boost marketplace! That would have been unthinkable 5 years ago...

Big Red is not going to buy what it will get anyway. Where do you thing those 4.4m phone users are going to go, Boost?

VZ will earn its share as will AT&T.
