What's up with Sprint and all their Cingular bashing? I was watching TV earlier and I saw about three commercials about how Sprint does this and Cingular does not. WTF?

Sprint is losing a lot of their business customers to Cingular. They are losing them due to network problems and service reliability issues. The IDEN network is becoming over loaded with all the boost mobile and Nextel users. Sprint is trying their best to maintain their footing in high end business contracts. Sprint/Nextel is in some serious trouble they need those big contracts they lost. Even the small-medium sized trucking companies and other vertical business are not choosing Nextel like they used to.

That will change with the launch of the hybrid phones. Last I checked, Cingy didn't offer a phone that stands up to military specifications.... and PTT is a joke. No offense, there is just no comparison.

I've used it, but who has it? If every phone had it it would be useful, but for now everyone with a walkie has a nextel. That and its quicker.

Having had a chance to use both I would say Nextel's PTT is faster by about 5 sec. but the overall coverage with Cingular is much better in NE Ohio. What good does faster PTT have if you can't get reception.

Nextel has faster intial contact time..but once connected cing is faster...Nextel needs to dump there tech...sprint had no business aquiring nextel...its a totally diff tech and its killing sprint....sprint needs to concentrate ontheir data services and improving their own voice calls.

PTT
with cingy its clearer

you can tell who wants to talk who is busy and who doesnt wanna be distrubed from the screen

with the touch of a button you can take over 30 groups of 6 people each and convert it to a cell phone call not using PTT

the other night my 5 friends were talking i ptt them all and then converted it to a cell call so we could all talk without beeping. using my free M2M

Because Cingular keeps claiming lies, So Sprint then bashes them. Cingular is still claiming to have the fewest dropped calls, which is false. Every Internet wireless reporter exposed that lie. Cingular is still claiming to have the largest and fastes network, which again is a lie. Sprint has the largest network with their voice and data roaming agreements, and their data network is faster. EV-DO is much faster then EDGE. And Even Sprint's CDMA 1x is as fast as Cingular EDGE. So Cingular keeps making lies, so Sprint brings up the truth.

What are you smoking? Cing call quality is 20x that of sprint...GSM is the global standard for communication..with 90% of the world using it....Why are you comparing EVDO to EDGE....thats like comparing apples to oranges...EDGE is a highER speed than their GPRS and is laid out all over the place...

If you want to compare something..compare EVDO with Cingular's 3G...the UMTS with HSDPA tech is amazing....curently i get download speeds of 3.0+ Mbps and the network has capabilities of 7.2 Mbps...and with an additional update will have 1.5 Upload speeds in the future...Cingular is fast catching up with ,not Sprint or Verizon(who is a much better provider than SPrint by the way), but they are catching up with the European Carriers...You canno...

of course edge is slower than evdo, sprint continues to do an unfair comparison between a 3g technology, EVDO and a 2.5g technology EDGE., very unwise, but they wont compare evdo with cingular's new technology, HSDPA, but then again sprint is going down the toilet and loyal nextel customers are leaving faster than customers are subscribing to sprint.

they are mentioning cingulars 3G network now but all they're advertising are small cities that have EVDO but not UMTS/HSDPA.....they wont compare the speeds of the two.

are you on crack

first cingy has the largest network you wanna know why GSM works all over thw world

second cingys new network that is going to go live very soon with greater coverage then EVDO

3-6 times faster

here is a good fact

last quarter cingy signed on over 2.4 million customers

sprint signed on 1 million but overall monthly subscribers fell by 300k
that means the customers that make them money left anmd they are stuck with the wanna be
gangster boost mobile kids
but cingy is full of lies
