Need to port Cingular Prepaid to MetroPCS

I'm trying to port my cingular prepaid number to a new MetroPCS phone and the rep in the local MetroPCS store doesn't think it can be done. Tips? Advice?

You cannot port prepaid anything to anything.

That's a lie. I ported cingular prepaid to t-mobile postpaid.

You can port any number to any carrier....its a law... (WLNP) regardless if the phone is prepaid or with a real carrier it will have an account number. all you have to do is provide your new carrier with the account number and the name on the account and they can take the number. It doesnt always go as smooth tho... most prepaid companys piggy back wich makes things complicated. they re usually already part of the company that you want to port to. but good luck
