My friend told me that he now has unlitmited text for about $25 extra bucks a month. I was wondering if anyone else has this>? He tells me that his mother got it for him cuz his bill is always higher with texting.

Every carrier does this - and why shouldn't they? People always expect everything for free.

B/c you cant control someone sending you a txt message. Cingular charges you even for the ones they send. T-mobile only charges for outgoing messages.

There is no unlimited Text option for Cingular Orange customers. Cingular blue are just screwed at .10 a text if they didn't already have a text plan.

You used to get unlimited txt messaging for the first month when you sign up for a media package. perhaps she signed him up for the 19.99 media works and miss understood the first month unlimited use promo...

Well with the promo its for one full biling cycle so if you add it at the right time you can get close to 2 months of unlimited data usage, say you add it 4 days into the cycle, you get unlimited till the end of the current billing cycle and then for the full next billing cycle.

Okay, alot of people are put off by the fact that in cingulars unlimited media plan they can only get up to 3000 text messages. While this is true, most customers don't understand that cingular counts text messages as those only sent using SMS, a small message sent from your phone to another (usually) Now, Instant messaging (Using programs such as AIM and MSN) on a phone is not a text message. They are Instant messages that are sent over the data network, like media net, not SMS, which you do get unlimited use of in cingulars unlimited plan.

If your on the media net 4.99, basic 9.99, or works 14.99. Then you do not have "unlimited" data. I do also believe it depends on what your phones aim set up is. Such as a built in messanger apposed to a installed one. A built in messenger on the phone could quite possibly sent the messages over sms. For instants, I have a phone, not a pda. That I can install a mobile messager service on, which it uses media net to connect and send messages. "instant messaging" I know I wasnt clear on that in my first message. As far as whats "built" in the phone by the maker, they could be varried. I'd check your manual or contact the manufacturer.

Correct, as I just posted, most phones now have a messanger on them (such as aim). Those might use sms to send their messages. What I meant to say and did not specify is that alot of phones can also use a progam downloaded and installed onto them by the user, that would connect via media net like a more treditional messanger on a computer rather than sms. Implimenting the data use on the unlimited plan for unlimited messaging.
