When Cingular changes to at&t will they offer better plans like the old AT&T did, and will the people have to renew their existing contracts, and will the name change to at&t wireless?

The plans the old attws had are dead buried and rotting, kinda graphic for emphasis.People will do same as they do now, if they are eligble for upgrade or signing up for new plans then they will renew the contract.NO it will not be attws, it will be all branded att, just like my picture shows on my posts.

No, it will the new att logo silverr ball with the blue swoosh and att,like my picture has.

Cingular name and logos will begin phase starting early 2007 to be fully gone end of 2007 or within first quarter 2008.

If you watch on TV, that there is less cingular advertsing in anticipation or this.

Pacific-Bell Wireless -> PacBell Wireless -> Cingular

L.A. Cellular ->
GTE -> ->AT&T Wireless, -> AT&T (AWE)
mcGraw Cellular -> when merger w/ MediaOne
was completed (spin-off co.)

= Cingular

Now, back to At&t. What a fuc*ing joke. If those assholes would have put the money into the network and hiring decent people this hodepodge of a company would be in better shape.

The name change is purely a marketing decision and not the result of a merger other then the pending merger of the parents. There are no changes to the technology being used or any billing systems therefore no customers need to be converted into something else. 🙂

🙄 I hope this is the last thread on this subject. 🙄

AT&T announced an agreement to buy BellSouth for $67 billion. AT&T currently owns 60 percent of Cingular, the No. 1 wireless carrier, while BellSouth owns the remaining 40 percent. As part of the deal, AT&T would assume full control of Cingular.

The merger will streamline the ownership and operations of Cingular Wireless. The new company will be more innovative, nimble and efficient, providing benefits to customers by combining the Cingular, BellSouth and AT&T networks into a single fully integrated wireless and wireline Internet Protocol network offering a full range of advanced solutions.

Um... copied & pasted from elsewhere, but it's mostly spin - there will not be one new company, at least not as far as Cingular is concerned - operations are going to be pretty much the same, the main/only thing that will change will be branding.

SBC(South Western Bell) bought ATT after Cingular Bought out the ATT WIRELESS part of the company early last year. SBC CHOSE to keep the name ATT because according to poles the ATT name is still the most recognizable telecommunication company name. With that said cingular is already planning to stop using one of their own a billing systems. And only use billing system nationwide. Some blue technical applications are already being used in some tech support dept. Cingular already did all the work by putting together the biggest and most reliable wireless network the plan now is to leave everything working the same and just change the name. ATT(SBC) is a land line company and they are interested in the that part of the buisness(Bellsouth), the ...

Might I add that AT&T Wireless Services (purchased 2003 by Cingular) operated independently of AT&T (purchased 2006 by SBC) for years, so, in that sense, the two acquisitions have next to nothing to do with one another.

Ok, so here's my working theory, and I invite people with vastly more business acumen than I to ring in on this one. It's several years ago, and AT&T execs are sitting on a wireless company that is doing poorly in comparison to one they have a partial stake in. They don't have the resources to buy out the other investors in that company and merge them together, so instead they offer their own wireless assets for sale to the other company, being very careful to retain their right to market wireless services in the future under their own brand. They not only make 50+ million dollars from the sale, but also patent a method of cash sales in the process just to make the deal even sweeter. This money gets years to grow through investing, and t...

depends on the market

depends on the current policy and the market

most likely wireless will not be added

They are changing their name, that is it. They aren't going to SUDDENLY begin doing things significantly different than they do now.
