Former ATT Wireless customer plan options

getvid

Jan 4, 2006, 8:29 PM
Hi,

I am a former ATT Wireless customer with a sponsorship account, and I could use some help with new plan options. My contract expired.

As I understand it, we can no longer buy ATT phones and I would like to get a new PDA or high-end phone. I am happy with my current plan.

Is there any way to get a new phone without buying it elsewhere? If I do migrate to Cingular, can I get 2 year phone pricing with a 1 year contract? Any special deals or promotions (like free early evenings) upcoming?

Any answers and suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Thank you

Sorry Buddy. There is no way to keep your existing plan or to get 2yr pricing with a 1yr contract. You can add the 7-7 feature for $7 bucks a month if it makes a big difference to you. I know it does for me personally, I save tons of minutes and $7 is hardly anything compared to the overage I experienced before adding it.
I suggest stopping by a store to check out current rate plans or take a vistit to the cingular website. Also have them check VIP offers for you to see if theres anything special thay can do for you.

you can get 2yr pricing with 1yr contract but you have to convince someone as to why they should do that....as far as free early night...no....we want your money...every penny we can get...cingualr ain't about giving away the house like att did...hence there is no more att.....well there is buts thats another story altogether......just suck it up you get what you pay for

I don't think anybody can get 2yr pricing on 1yr plan unless you're activating 200+ lines for a business...

At least you're in an interesting place with your ATTWS contract expiring, you have the luxury of trying whomever (carrier) you wish and take advantage of their 14-30 day exchange policies...

If you're on a PDA kick, check which carrier offers the one you really want, then check coverage/rates...

The only way you could ever get 2 year pricing on a 1 year agreement is if you went to an agent and told him you were ready to buy if he could mark the phone down (usually we can do this by adding features to the account). Otherwise, no.

What kind of plan are you on with AT&T? I know unfortunately chances are you will be paying maybe a tiny bit more a month, but that will be the way it is with every carrier. At least when you migrate to Cingular you will not have an activation fee.

Tell us what you have on your account and we can try to help you with a plan to the ebst of our ability.

Since your out of contract you can go to whatever carrier you choose which is cool. Cingular does hook ATTWS customers up though on migrations. Most ATTWS customers in good standing get waived 18$ upgrade/migration charge for there new phone plus an added 200 minutes to whatever plan you choose for free. As someone else mentioned there are also usually good VIP deals for ATTWS customers in good standing where you can get decent phones at outrageous deals plus theres usually at least one free phone offer. I think right now its usually the LG 1500 after rebate. As for PDA's we have the treo 650 and a selection of BB's. Verizon has a pretty decent PDA selection as well and the treo 700 there getting looks sick. T-Mobiles PDA selection imo sucks...

I'm intrigued by the added 200 minutes that you say that Cingular will add to a migrated plan. How do you do that? If you need to call CS, do you still get to take advantage of low equipment pricing that is available on Cingular Premier?

I am not aware of the exact specifics on how cingular determines which ATTWS customers are eligable for the added 200 minutes. Its part of there VIP offers and isnt given to all AT&T customers but a good majority.

Hi. Thanks for the advice. I called NBS, but they will not sell any phones unless you migrate to Cingular.

I will try calling Migrations to see what they can offer.

Is it to my advantage to stick with what I have now because they might offer something better later, or are these the best deals for customers who do not want to migrate?

Thank you

😁

For customers migrating, the 200 bonus minutes can be added to any cingular price point, including family talk plans. The 200 bonus minutes are not rollover & are in effect for lifetime as long as the rate plan is not changed. The minutes are available for all ATT migrations through February 11, 2006 only.

That is correct except for 1 small thing- the 200 minutes is not for life, it is only for the length of the contract, i had 3 e-mails regarding that a while ago, not too long ago either, its only for length of the contract 1 year or 2.

I called CSR migration specialist. They said that the 200 bonus non-rollover minutes offered to migrations is directed only at ATT TDMA customers.

That's what the csr told me when I asked about the migration....there is no 200 minutes. In fact, she said all rate plans start at $39.99 per month.

Contact 1-800-999-5445 it is NBS they handle FAN accounts....since you have a FAN account they will more than likely still sell you a PDA the only phones we have in stock for AT&T customers who refuse to migrate are NOKIA's 3120 and 6010s and PDA's. They can sell them to you at either 1 or 2 yr extenstions or just for full retail.

Thanks for all of your responses, they've really been helpful.

I have 2 individual plans. The one that is expired is a local 29.99 plan with 250 mins + 100 mins free for life + 38 bonus mins (388 total) with unlimited m2m and unlimited nights+weekends.

The 2nd line has 4 months remaining on the 1 yr contract. It has 400 mins + 300 addl mins + 68 bonus mins (768 total) with unlimited m2m and unlimited nights+weekends.

I don't really need two lines anymore, and I might cancel the first line and keep the second one.

The service has been great, and I'd like to stay with ATT/Cingular. But I don't want to do a 2 year contract. I think our discount is 30% or 40% off regular equipment pricing.

Thank you

I would go with this -

For the first line, cingular has a plan available through Feb 11 only- 29.99 200 anytime minutes and 200 bonus minutes (not rollover)and 1,000 n&w no mtm. Free ld and roaming. Free phone the samsung X497m.

For the second line, you can get the 39.99 nation plan with 450 rollover minutes and 200 bonus anytime minutes with 5,000 n&w, unlimited national mtm, free ld and roaming. The free phone here too.

Good luck!

Can you get these deals if you sign a one-year agreement instead of a 2yr agreement? I don't want to sign a 2yr agreement.

I just called Cingular and apparently the 1st plan mentioned -

"For the first line, cingular has a plan available through Feb 11 only- 29.99 200 anytime minutes and 200 bonus minutes (not rollover)and 1,000 n&w no mtm. Free ld and roaming. Free phone the samsung X497m." -

is only available to customers who received this offer in the mail, according to the migration csr. Is this true?

why dont you want a 2 year contract? if you're that happy with your existing service (w/at&t) why not go for the 2 year contract? coverage is only gonna get better...

Thanks for all of your responses.

I didn't want to do a 2 year contract because I will probably be moving soon, and I am on a local plan.

Also, 2 years is a long commitment. I know the company has to recoup its money for phones, but one year contracts with better phone discounts would be better for me (like TMobile).

T-MO has a crap network, they rent space from other carriers like cingular,so T-Mo customers get the leftover tower freq.so sincet hey need money the only way they can do it with low phone cost,so go to T-Mo,where the slogan is "Come to T-Mobile, the most whenever minutes you'll never get to use"

All you ATT Wireless customers are the same. You always want something for nothing. No you arent going to get N/W for free. No you arent getting a two year pricing with a one year contract. Ill tell you what Cingular is giving to a few customers 200 bonus minutes when they sign up. That is about all you will be getting. Sure you have been with ATT Wireless forever and a year and if that company were still around they would probably give you everything under the sea! BUT they arent. When you sign up with Cingular for a new contract you become a BRAND NEW CUSTOMER. You are starting all over again with a different company. Please dont be one of them whiney ATT people and want something for nothing! 👿

EXCUSE YOU! Sounds like you are jealous. By the way, BRAND NEW CUSTOMERS GET THE BEST DEALS!

I'm sure they are not jealous. They are most likely a rep that was with AT&T prior to the merger that is sick and tired of hearing how the majority of those customers want everything for free. I feel that same pain. Thank God I'm outta there!

Brand new customers get the best deals?

How do you figure that one?

Here is how it goes:

New Cust
$36.00 Activation Fee
-$60.00 off Retail for one year contract
-$120.00 off Retail for two year contract

Migrated customer
$0.00 Activation Fee
-$60.00 off Retail for one year contract
-$120.00 off Retail for two year contract

The discounts are the same with the exception of you paying less on your next bill. That would appear to me that the migrated customer would have the better deal, would it not?
