6230 Lockline exchange

I'm having wierd software problems. It just freezes up with a blank screen, and i have to take the battery out to restart. Power cycling doesn't help. The software version is 04.43 from August 28, 04.

If I do a lockline exchange, will I get another 6230 or would I just have to call and find out what they have in stock?

Thanks Shane for talking me out of an upgrade a week or two back. The P207 would have been a terrible choice to extend a contract on.

Thanks.

JSW,

My mother had a 6230 with similar problems. I had her do an XBM, and she was offered the defuct Siemens SX66 or a new Moto V551. I told her to go with the Moto.

2 weeks later my account had the same problem with her 6230. She was given another 6230. ???

So I really don't know what to tell you. Keep me posted.

For awhile, XBM had no 6230's available for replacements, so they were offering the V551 and the SX66 as "equivalent" offerings. Some time later, they did have 6230's in stock for replacements. One of my sales associates got her 6230 replaced with another one, and she has had no problems with the new one.

I just had a 6230 exchanged a few weeks ago. I was told that another 6230 would be sent.

I asked them to tell me the firmware version BEFORE the exchange so that i didn't have to bother with the exchange if it wouldn't be effective (the problem with the 6230 was cingular's proprietory software - -not only was it horrendously glitchy, but it even removed features from the phone like call block), but no one seemed able to do that .

Luckily, it arrived with a newer version of the firmware and that solved all of the problems. Not a single freeze up or other problem since the exchange.

No Problem. I tried. But I'm not Shane. I'm Shawn. I'm not sure I was the one you are speaking of, but I know I posted something to the same effect of not extending your contract for that phone.

Wups, sorry for the typo. I typed your name from memory, sorry I got it wrong. Yea, you were the one helping me.

Thanks again.

No Problem at all. They tried to get me to extend my contract on a replacement of the 6230 for the Nokia 6102. I said no and continued fighting until they gave me an s710a. But, I would have gladly taken a good 6230 as that was an awesome phone when it worked right.

The 6230 that they are shipping now is just fine.. I've had mine 3 weeks and not a single problem (my other 6230 had gotten to the point of wigging out multiple times each day).
